Help! I was told today there was sugar in my urine at my glucose test this morning and my dr has told me to follow a gestational diabetes diet... has anyone found a good macro count for this diet? Carb%, fat%, and protein%? And a goal to keep sugars under? I cant seem to find anything anywhere online! Thanks!!!

Your doctor should be able to refer you to a dietitian who is trained in working with pregnancy/gestational diabetes

Check out Gestational Diabetes UK mums on Facebook and the website gestationaldiabetes.co.uk the information on here changed my whole experience of a GD pregnancy this time around.

I’ve had GD 3 times and recently diagnosed as prediabetic.

It’s best not to set prescriptive macros as GD is quite individual and what you can tolerate now you might not be able to tolerate down the line as your hormones increase. How many weeks are you? Some basic rules are don’t double carb in a meal and never eat a naked card (I.e. always pair with protein and/or fat). It’s all very trial and error as you learn what you can tolerate. I’m not sure where you are based but the diet advice from the NHS is pretty out dated as they still advise too many carbs, including cereal for breakfast which is most likely to send your blood sugar high. The morning is usuallly the hardest time to tolerate carbs and most women end up with a very low carb breakfast and then are able to tolerate more as the day goes on. For three months I ate almond pancakes with bacon for breakfast.

There are some great recipes on that website and it explains it all as well.
