    Walking 5 miles at a fairly brisk 4 mile an hour rate. I do this every day and it makes sense.

    It all depends on the duration and intensity, teamed with your heartrate, age and weight....

    As a basic rule:
    * High Intensity burns around 10 calories a minute
    These include Power Walking, Cycling, Jogging, Heavy Weight Training, Basketball, Kick Boxing....
    * Moderate Intensity burns around 7 calories a minute
    These include Brisk Walking, Swimming, Light Weight Training, Dancing
    * Light Intensity burns around 4 calories a minute
    These include Walking, Gardening, Yoga, Aquarobics, Light Cycling

    i run at 10km/h and i burn a calorie every two seconds but im unfit lol

    If you go to the "exercise" tab and then choose "database", MFP will calculate roughly what you should burn for an activity based on your weight and the duration you enter.

    Every exercise will burn 400 calories if you do it long enough.
    I can run 4 miles and burn 400 calories.
    I can use an elliptical machine for 45 minutes and burn 400 calories.
    I can take a spin class for 45 minutes and burn 400 calories.
    The time depends on how fast you go, and your level of fitness.
