In my opinion (and experience), if you are the type of person who spends a good portion of each day miserable because you hate your body, you will not reach a point where your body suddenly becomes a source of great pride.
I pray that I never become so shallow or vain that my body becomes a source of great pride. Not exactly a big risk for me at this time .DO NOT ALLOW ANYONE INTO YOUR LIFE WHO HARMFULLY CRITICIZES YOUR BODY! EVER! Life is too short to let *kitten* take anything from you, and your self worth is no exception.
*kitten* abound in life. My self worth is not based on what other people think of my body or even what I think of my body. I, and only I, am responsible for how I value myself. *kitten* are irrelevant. And finally, change your goals. If you can force yourself to focus on your fitness capacity and health instead of the size of your thighs or belly, you will find that it is much easier to stay motivated and confident. Then one day you will wake up to a body you love, and the change will have happened while you weren't’t paying attention.
I think this good advice.0 -
OMG, that is an amazing article!!! And to think that I almost didn't click over because I thought it would be advertisement for a Paleo diet! Seriously, THANKs for sharing this. :-)0

Excellent! Thanks0

I love this: "bodies that feel great and perform great usually look great by accident"
That's what I have been going for-health first. Weight loss is just an (amazing) added bonus!0 -
"In all my experience, with all types of people at nearly every possible fitness level imaginable, I have yet to see even one person turn a body they hate into a body they love. To be honest, I don’t think it can be done. I am not saying people don’t end up appreciative of their gains, but many will never be satisfied with their bodies, even when they far exceed their original goals. You don’t want to be one of these people."
Really? Not a SINGLE person? I've seen many people do it....0 -

Usually, the progress is a result of wanting something better for themselves, than from coming from the negative place of hate. The initial thought that gets the ball rolling might be "I hate my body" but after tha thought comes the positive.... Here are the changes I am going to make. Spending everyday repeating the mantra of self hatred never works for anyone.0 -
Richard.... It is never shallow or vain to be proud of your healthy body.0

This is so true for me. I've hated my body for years. I've done every diet under the sun often at the urging of others. I've had financial help from my parents. But until I sat down three weeks ago and decided I DESERVED a healthy body it was never going to happen.
So not only have I lost 6.3 kg in three weeks (13.6lbs) for the first time ever I've cut down on my diet soft drink consumption. By almost 3L. I now drink at least 2.4L of water a day. I force myself. Because I deserve a healthy body. Ive also started doing a facecare regime every night, because part of my healthy body is having healthy skin. I will get there. I know it. I'm aiming to be at ultimate goal by my 30th (two years away) And I will do it. Why?
Because I deserve to be healthy.0 -
