I started this challenge at round 27, at 227.8. I ended round 38 at 194. That is a 33 pound loss! I love this challenge! It goes against everything I USED to believe about weighing in daily, and has taught me to really listen to my body, not get discouraged by small set backs, and to celebrate the small victories!

4/28 - 127.8 - yesterday under calories and at least got 8K steps
4/29 - 127.2 - yesterday under calories and 11K steps, no actual workout though
4/30 - 127.8 - yesterday significantly over calories and very few steps. Just a bit of an emo day. I really do not do well when my regular workout partner (hubs) isn't well ... he has asthma so he gets a bye, me, just emo and unfocused.
5/1 - 129.2 - and DESERVED. If it had sugar in it and was not nailed down, I ate it yesterday. Horrifying. I am still eating like I was on vacation and getting 15-25K steps a day, and with an acquired taste for sugary "energy" foods like was able to get away with on the trip, while I sit at my desk and am frustrated with people and try to catch up on projects. Post vacation Whoops got me big time!!
So here is the plan:

5/3 - 128.4 - yesterday under calories, 11K steps including a knockout trail run/hike with some elevation gain (I walk when my hr hits the red zone)
5/4 - 127.8 - yesterday huge smashing headache, came home and slept, ate too many foods, and only walked 3K steps
5/5 - 128.6 - yesterday 10K steps including a really warm and windy run of 3.5 miles. Over calories though and did not log. Back at it today.

5/02 135.3 2.62 mile walk Decided to have a treat today without checking the calories first. BIG MISTAKE. The bakewell tart was 470 calories. YIKES! Needless to say even with exercise I ended up over calories. Lesson learned. The bakery is not my friend. lol

Disappointed with my weigh in, I thought I was going to be down instead up. I have to keep positive!
4/29- I have had my rainbow of fruits and vegetables. Started taking fish oil again.
4/30 - Good walking day 11,500 steps. It was so nice outside, did a little to much cleaning the garden. Eating, drinking water healthy!
5/01-Planning my meals, going for groceries. Eating lots of vegetables, and fruit. Been over 10, 000 steps the last two days. Stay positive!!!
5/02- Great time in the morning, enjoying the weather. Its like Summer! Eating healthy! Fitbit steps 9,000.
5/03- Today is my 6 week, since my surgery still have to be careful with bending if I do to much I have headaches. I am doing so well it is unbelievable. Eating like a rainbow lots of coloured vegetables. Making sure to start my vitamins in taking a good fish oil, Vit. C. Lots of water.
5/04 It was a crazy, windy day, 123 km. Lots of damage. My weight is up today, and I have been eating good.

05/01: 154.0 Drank beer (& logged) to celebrate completion of never-ending work project (met my guesstimated deadline). Net calories red, sugar & sodium green, fiber & protein ok, 14c water. 05/02: 154.5 Stuck with meal plans but Snacked. Too. Much. on almonds (before supper) & veggies straws (late evening). At least those snacks are out of the house. 05/04: 154.5 Evening social event & self-control not so much... Oh well, oops. At least I got up from table to remove myself from further damage. No idea how to log some, used quick add... needless to say net calories, sodium & sugar all RED. 15c water anyway. Walked dog before work / 3.4 mi 59:49 pace 17:34 / happy dog & happy me. Breakfast and lunch were fine, but we went out for dinner and I had fried pickles and a small ice cream cone. But thank goodness Berkshire Hathaway weekend is over.

4/28 144.4 ~ (Steps 16,689) - Yesterday was an extremely day with my exercises and my food...We went out to eat for lunch and dinner but my healthy choices made the difference in the scale...
4/29 142.7 ~ (Steps 14,275) Longgggg day but I didn’t emotionally eat which was a plus in my book,
4/30 142.4 ~ (Steps 10,325) I spent the day with my grandkids, son and daughter! I was able to keep under my calorie goal plus hit the gym before they close.
5/01 143.3 ~ (Steps 21,968) I did keep under my calorie goal just wasn’t the healthy meals,

5/04 -- 192.8 I wonder if I'm logging properly. Most of the food I eat is home made, and it can be difficult to guestimate what numbers to check against it (shepherd's pie, chowder, chicken stew etc.). I'm starting to suspect that I've been underestimating my numbers.

4/29 - 130.4 - ate over 2.5× my cals, including 2 TH Honey Crullers and a 175 g bag of Hickory Sticks Stress ate after a family friend's death and my Uncle being given a very bad prognosis and trying to comfort my Aunt. Other stress too

5/01 - 131.8 - retention decreasing. PM funeral

5/03 - 130.4 - glad it stayed down as I had some nachos (usually don't have these), cheese, salsa

5/06 - 130.6 - pretty good considering I ate twice my calories on Friday (4) and Saturday (5), including 3 donuts (a honey cruller and two Canadian Maple - filled with cream and maple on top) yesterday and 2 pieces of deep fried battered fish and french fries (all of which is high carb and will make me retain some water). Considering my week I will be glad to maintain

4/29 272.0 Going in right direction cold today but doing a short gym session and hike in afternoon when sun warms things up
4/30 273.1 A lot of sodium in BBQ last night felt sick afterwards but moving on another monday and week of work
5/01 270.8 A ton of walking and physical working at work got a good woosh legs still sore
5/02 270.1 Went back to circuit training with steps between instead of straight lifting think that is better for me even lowered my cardio because of time crunch and still getting results

Nothing works unless you have a sustained calorie deficit over time. Anything will work if you have a sustained calorie deficit over time.
Motivation is overrated. What you need is education, willingness to eat less, a good plan, and discipline to stick to it.

1988 high school graduation 185-190lbs
weight on 1/29/18 = 234.5
round 33 - start=215lbs end 202lbs
round 34 - start = 202 end 192.8lbs stomach empty and bone dry
round 35 - start = 192 end 196lbs
round 36 – 195lbs no change.
Round 37 194lbs start and finish but did see 192 for a couple days
Round 38 –196lbs starting – 194lbs end. I went into this round kinda heavy. Not really counting this as a loss
Round 39 goal – would like to see at least one morning weigh in less than 190#
4/28 193lbs – we don’t diet to hard on the weekend but I hope I have the willpower to hit it hard all week long.
4/29 192lbs – kinda light on food for some reason yesterday but went over goal if you count the adult beverages.
4/30 192.00 – I usually do not report the .0 --- it is not typical for me to loose on a weekend since we don’t try very hard from Friday – Sunday night.
5/1 191.00 – posting the .0 again. totally unexpected after eating around 1200 calorie dinner.
5/2 192 – ate kinds good. Drank like a fish. Can’t lose every day! First words out of Wife’s mouth this morning “HAVE A SANDWICH”
5/3 – 194lbs dressed – got called into work early and didn’t weigh in at normal time. Also had clothing on. Should have weighed more considering what I ate yesterday!
5/4 – 192 - ate good. Last night the scale had me at 55.9% water. I average 52-53% so I am wondering if I see a drop soon
5/5 – 192lbs – I am fine with weight but would like to see less then 20% body fat. I have a little ways to go yet.
5/6 – 189lbs – Crazy – i know I did not eat right yesterday. Water was still at 54% body fat is 20%

5: 211.6... Ate back all but a few exercise calories. I'm excited to see how my weekend unfolds into the end of this round!

4/28: 180.1 Same as yesterday. Lots of walking yesterday but also lots of indulgences in my diet. I wanted a break from logging before the next round. Back to work!
4/29: 181.7 Walked a bunch but ate steak and popcorn and wine. This is the result.
4/30 181.2 Continued my walking regime. Diet a little indulgent by eating back all my exercise calories. It’s a step int the right direction though. I just need to stop eating Sunday morning grits—their calorie density just throws me off for the whole day.
5/1: 182.8 I had 12,000 steps and a great DB workout. Drank my water and stayed in calorie goal. Sigh.
5/2: 183.2, walked 12,000 steps and did power cardio workout. Ate back half my workout calories and gained again. Not sure if I should just be patient or should stop eating exercise calories back.
5/3: 183.4, family celebration. I was careful most of the day but wheels came off in the evening. I wonder if some of this isn’t water weight from TOM. In any case I need to eliminate after dinner calories to see.
5/4: 181.4 There goes the water bloat. Made better food choices yesterday. Not perfect but better. Here’s to progress.
5/5:182.5. Lotsofwalking and biking. Stayed in calorie goal but not nearly enough water
5/6: 181, woo hoo! I’ll take it. This challenge has been such a challenge for me. Calorie counting and restriction is the only way I lose weight. Exercise feels good but I really can only eat back about 1/4 to1/3 of my calories. Otherwise I stall.

4/29 208.5 Not sure if this weight will stick around tomorrow because yesterday was a very busy day working with my DH rebuilding a shed at my mom’s. No breakfast, late small salad with some chicken for lunch, and just a small bowl of rice krispies for dinner because by the time we finished and got home it was just too late to eat much else and I was really tired. Did keep hydrated throughout day though.

5/02 208.6 I like to graph my weight loss, and my graph looks like a rickety old staircase with risers and treads. As long as that staircase is heading down, it’s all good. So it would seem that for the past 4 days, I’m hanging out on a tread. I’ve heard some people refer to this as a mini-plateau. Anyway, I’m doing really good eating within my calorie goal, and no mindless snacking, and from past experience with weight loss I know I can linger on a “tread” for anywhere from 3 to 7 days. Then I have a drop. I just hope this holds true this time around. Have a nice day, everyone!

5/04 No scale today. Slept over at my nurse daughter’s last night to put her kids on the bus this AM for her and take her youngest to preschool. Then I spent the afternoon/evening at my other daughter’s house helping her start packing up to move. I’m tired! But I’m home now and will weigh in the AM.

5/06 207.0 Hope that number sticks around for tomorrow so I meet my goal this round. Very rainy day here in NJ today. I’ll be at my daughter’s house again helping her pack up to move. I came home exhausted last night. While we are packing, we are going through everything. Making piles of “donate” “yard sale” and “throw out/recycle”. If she doesn’t want it or need it anymore, she doesn’t want to move with it. Smart girl. But a lot of work.

4/28: 220.4 Tough kettlebell workout yesterday and then came home and went on a 1 hour walk with husband and the dog. Massage today!
4/29: 220.0 Worked on getting my water in yesterday which I find much harder to do on the weekends. Had a great massage yesterday. Hoping the weather holds up so that I can get a long walk in today.
4/30:220.9 Had chinese food yesterday, so I'm not surprised about the jump due to the increased sodium. Went for a 2.2 mile walk yesterday. Allergies are killing me today, so no kettlebell
5/01:--221.1 More water retention from left over chinese food. Calories were good, so now I just wait for the water weight to leave. Drinking a lot of water today.
5/02:--221.3 Ugh. I am assuming that is still some water weight. I have been really good in getting my water in the last couple of days. Allergies under control today, so kettlebell tonight.

5/04:--218.6 I had to weigh myself twice this morning. I hate that my emotions are affected by the number on the scale. I know that I have been eating within my calories and exercising, so I will lose weight, but it is nice when the scale reflects the work that I've put in. Kettlebell tonight.
5/05:--218.6 Holding steady. Tweeked my back a little yesterday, so I didn't go to kettlebell last night. Going for a hike today. Working on getting in my water today.
5/06:--218.4 Successfully got my water in yesterday. Going out to lunch today, I've looked over the menu and know what I plan on eating, now let's hope that I stick to it.
