Overnight Oats?!

I've tried making overnight oats but mine tasted super pasty and chalky. I used quick oats. Any suggestions as to what I could do better? I just layered fruit, yogurt and quick oats
Use old fashioned oats, not quick oats. Sometimes I use quick oats if I forget to make it the night before. I make it up in the morning and its ready by the time I get to work. Also, use some liquid. You'll see that most of the recipes posted use some form of milk.0 -
I make a lot of different versions but here's my current fave:
1/2c old fashioned oats
1c unsweetened vanilla almond milk
140g frozen cherries
1/2 tsp cinnamon
7 g crushed almonds
Yum!0 -
There are 100's of recipes, sweet and savory, just google it.
You can pretty much put in whatever you like. You are limited only by your imagination.
My favorite is, oatmeal, unsweetened almond milk, cinnamon, tsp honey, chopped walnuts and blueberries.0 -
Kinda clueless here....
Do you pop it in the microwave before you eat or is it "done"? I followed a basic recipe to prep for my husband and I in the morning, but that part isn't very clear. (I want to give him proper "directions", since he leaves at 4, long before I get up)0 -
Better Oats Organic Bare - 1 package
Collagen Peptides - 1-2 scoops
Mixed berries - 1 cup
Unsweetened Coconut Almond Milk - 1 cup1 -

Nope - just eat it cold. The benefit of the overnight soak is that the oats don't need to be cooked.0 -

I like it for hot days when a big bowl of steaming oatmeal doesn't appeal. It doesn't really save me much time vs microwaving it, but it's more refreshing when it's hot outside and I don't have to wait for it to cool to avoid burning my mouth!

I've just tried them this morning - mocha overnight porridge
40g rolled oats
125ml milk
1 tsp honey
1tsp instant coffee
1tsp cocoa powder
Perfect start for a coffee addict like me0 -

I nuke mine because I use old fashioned oats, I don't like chewy oats, and I don't like cold oatmeal! It's a matter of personal preference.0 -

I'm iffy on them myself. I like hot oatmeal, and the cold chewiness of overnight oats kind of reminds me of soggy paper. I can definitely see why people like them, they're just not for me.1 -

I use the technique to make a bowl ahead of time if I won't have time to cook the on the stove in the morning, which is my preference. I nuke them 1 min in the evening to get the absorption started and 1-2 in the morning to finish cooking and reheat.0 -
I like mine cold but then I add nuts and fruit to complement the chewiness.0
