Gloves when weight lifting

I have been weight lifting for several years without gloves. I have slowly been adding more weight to my snatch. It's still not very much but after my last workout, I had rubbed a small amount of skin away from my thumb joint. I have calluses on my hands and they don't bother me, but losing a layer of skin is painful and maybe I am a baby but I had to stop lifting and now I don't want to snatch until it heals. Yes I can put a bandaid on it but I don't want the bandaid to come off.

Clean and jerk, deadlifts, front/back squat, pull ups, inverted rows aren't a problem, only snatches seem to be causing trouble with my thumbs. I was thinking about adding gloves just to protect my skin so I can add more sets. Any brands people like?

Check these out. I have tried gloves and found these to be better for me. Search around b/c I wouldn't have paid what it shows here. These might be better for you since it is only for some lifts and not others. When I didn't want them, i was able to just turn them around, instead of taking gloves on and off and having to store them. Good luck!

Most people I know tape their thumbs instead of gloves.

I wear a pair of Black Diamond Half Finger climbing gloves while lifting and rowing. I actually have 3 pairs.

These are GREAT gloves - full leather palmed, nylon backed, double reinfored inner index finger (where you'd wrap your index finger around a bar) and a section of abdorbant cloth material behind the thumb which you can use to wipe your nose or brow.

An excellent design and incredibly cheap too. MSRP is just $16 but you can buy a pair on the following site for just $8,which is a steal!

Highly recomnended for lifting, rowing, biking and any other activity that requires you to grab and hold onto domething.

I use these for snatching and they help a ton. Easier and more comfortable for me than taping. Jerkfit Nubs

P.S. Wear them inside-out so the seam is doesn't rub.

I saw these on Torokhtiy website: https://torokhtiy.com/collections/accessories/products/self-adhesive-thumb-tape. I was just worried about the tape coming off, plus I would have to keep buying more once I ran out.

My gym bans chalk because it makes a big mess.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I will look into buying some today so I can get back to my snatches. :)
