Struggling with the scales

Trying so hard and have done for about 5 weeks. The last two I have been tracking calories and not much of a change on the scales. I'm 138lbs so have 7lbs to lose to get into the healthy weight range and 20 to hit my target... at this rate it will take years.
Last week I averaged about 1100 calories per day, a couple of those were as little as 850-950 and the biggest day was 1500. I went to the gym twice, swimming twice, walked my usual steps which is at least 14000 steps every day, played tennis, cycled on day... I lost just a pound.
In total I have lost 2lbs in 5 weeks. I drink mostly sparkling water or tea, so not many hidden calories there.
My thyroid is underactive and is controlled with meds. Haven't seen much of a chang in my clothes but my body feels much firmer. Decided to use a tape measure so hopefully that might be more inspiring. Would dearly love to hear from someone with an underactive thyroid who has done this battle.

Stop looking at the scale. Measure by how clothes fit or how you look. A pound of fat weighs the same as a pound of muscle but Fat takes up more space. So of you are gaining muscle and losing fat your weight can even increase but your clothes will tell you the read difference1

Are you using a food scale? Logging everything, consistently? Condiments, cooking oils, nibbles, beverages, cheat meals?
Are you getting your blood work done regularly?
I know this is small comfort, but slow is better than nothing! If you are really averaging under 1200 cals I have to wonder if your thyroid issue is not adequately controlled. But before you consider that, do a gut check on the accuracy of your logging and read the Most Helpful Posts pinned to the top of each forum.

Thanks Have been estimating based on packaging info. Been over estimating as a rule, that way mistakes shouldn't matter. Seriously considering going to the doctors but things seem much better today.
Looks like the trick for my body is to exercise in the evening and nearly all day. Lost a lb yesterday. That is 2lb this week. The other change was to not think 'yay, I'm only at 800 calories I can eat a chocolate bar!' Additionally I have cut carbs more and replaced it with more protein. It has helped with the intense hunger and feeling like this journey is deprivation.
Have also lost half an inch from legs, hips, waist, bust and and inch from underbust since Monday, when I found a tape measure. It is an inch since I measured at a friends house a few days before. So hopefully things will progress over time
A bonus is that in July last year I weighed 148 so 11lbs lighter over the year.1 -
When you have only 7 lbs to lose you will not see a dramatic difference in 2 weeks. Your goal should be 0.5 per week. That loss can easily be masked by normal fluctuations and TOM. Be patient. You probably need to eat 1200-1500 of accurately weighed nutritious food per day. Eating 800 then filling up on chocolate isn't the best idea for nutrition especially with medical conditions. Just sayin.
PS I'm not against chocolate. I eat 1 square of 86% dark chocolate daily, 60 calories2 -
Yes I agree! I have quit the unhealthy foods, finally stopped craving sugar and wanting/enjoying healthy foods. Haven't had an appetite for a long while, it is great to actually enjoy meals again. I also agree TOM is going to make any further progress invisible for a couple weeks. The fluid retention will start later this week.
I am worried that I'm not getting enough iron. However, finding better sources of nutrients each day.
6lbs to get into the ideal weight range and now just 17lbs to get back to pre-illness weight.0 -

not to burst your bubble but if you lost that much in a few days chances are it was water retention. fat loss doesnt happen that fast. water retention could have also masked previous fat loss though.and with 7 lbs to lose fat isnt going to come off that quickly.0 -

I was a bit naughty and only ate 5000 calories over six days. During those six days I spent 5 hours in the gym and played tennis twice. I went swimming and swam lengths, cycled and did my toddlers swimming lesson (in the water too) and walked over 45 miles. There was exercise at home too and the fact I rarely sit down.
Going to try to bring the calories up a little as I am happy if I can lose 1lb a week. Which until this week wasn't happening.0 -
33 miles between Monday and yesterday sorry... 45 was the weekly report last week. Also did my friends gardening for extra activity too.
It looks like I hardly but ate much more nutritious choices.0 -

5000 calories over 6 days is only an additional 833.33 calories. so not really a lot over. a lb a week is still to much with only 7lbs to lose or was it kilos? and if you are extremely active then you may have needed those extra calories
