Don't like yogurt

Ok...I can't be the only one. I can't stand the smell of yogurt. I worked at Olga's Kitchen when I was in my teens and it totally turned me off to yogurt. Anyone else not like yogurt and found one they COULD eat? I have tried a couple organic greek ones recently---well not tried because as soon as I opened them I gave them to the kids. Are there any yogurts that don't taste and smell like yogurt?

If you don't like it, then don't eat it. There are too many other foods to bother with those you don't like!5

I've sure I've never found one that I could swallow! I have given up trying anymore.0

Yoghurt's nothing magical; you don't need to eat it, especially if you don't like it.0

Frozen yogurt... with sprinkles. lol But that's it. I stay away from any and all yogurt. It's a texture thing with me though.0

I guess you are right. I just guess I kind of envy people that eat it. My kids love it. Plus I don't eat eggs either so breakfast gets kind of boring...was hoping to add some life to it.0 -

No one says you have to eat "breakfast" food for breakfast either. I personally like to eat Triscuits, a cheese stick and either ham or imitation crab for breakfast on most mornings - not very breakfasty! Honestly my most favorite breakfast is cold pizza but that's not so healthy every morning! LOL!1 -
Yogurt is ****ing gross. lol2

I don't like yogurt... but I LOVE Chobani... any flavor EXCEPT honey and strawberry-banana (too sweet), but for some reason I really like the citrus ones (pineapple, pomegranate, blood orange).
I also used to eat an "Australian Style" yogurt with grapefruit on the bottom that was awesome.
The smell isn't really what turns me off though, it's more of a texture thing for me... so having fruit on the bottom makes a BIG difference. Also, I stir in 2 TBS of sliced almonds.
Hold your breath while you stir it, maybe?
Or... just find something else to eat if you really can't stand it.
I, for instance, would NEVER post asking people to recommend a cottage cheese recipe. I'm simply not gonna eat the stuff. Blech. Talk about texture problems!
Good luck :-)0 -
Why are you putting so much effort into something you do not like? If I consume calories they will be on things I like...can you live without yogurt since you don't like it anyway?0

I love steel cut oats...give them a try...cook enough for three days as they take 20 minutes to cook. If you don't like them put the same energy into oats as you seem to be for yogurt....much more filling and I love them. Cheap if you buy in bulk.1

I don't like yogurt either, and I've tried them all. no matter what kind it is....to me they all have this after taste that just doesn't taste right. now frozen yogurt - like the tcby I like.... not frozen yogurt where you freeze the yogurt in cup. If I put some in a smoothie, only a little, I can handle that. Don't worry if you don't like it, there are plenty of other foods out there to enjoy0

Well, if we just stick to the theme of toast, and avoid toppings that are sugar and not much else, you've got toast with:
Leftovers.
Spaghetti.
Chilli beans.
Sardines.
Exotic nut butters.
Avocado.
Banana/pear/apple and cinnamon (broiled with the fruit on top, like what you do to make toasted cheese, is fantastic...)
Stewed rhubarb.
Stewed sweet red bean.
Tomato.
Tomato, onion and capers.
Tomato and grilled cheese.
... Shall I continue? ;p1 -
I don't eat much yogurt any more, it just doesn't taste good by itself. If I want some probiotics, I take kefir, kimchi and/or pills.0

Good idea! If you don't enjoy yogurt, don't force yourself hun! There are always alternatives.0 -
I didn't think I liked yogurt for years. And now I can only eat certain kinds- anything with too much of that yogurt tang goes into the trash. I like Dannon Light & Fit, and the Walmart Great Value brands.
But if you don't really like yogurt- no worries.0 -
I've never liked yogurt because of the texture. I have recently come to like the Yoplait Whips because they are more like a mousse and I can handle that texture much better. I have grown to like them, but they are the only yogurt I can stand.0

You might want to try broadening your horizons or you could be stuck with a very small range of foods you can consume.
If you eat a thing three days in a row you will be used to it by the third day. Okay you won't enjoy it the first two days - but that will be over by day three. Work out what you are going to eat and then train yourself to eat it.0 -

My trainer is suggesting it. She would like me to eat one a day. So far I haven't found a single one I can stand.0 -

Maybe I will try one...what flavor do you suggest?0 -

Totally agree with this ^^ I only like yogurt if it's sweetened, but I try to limit/avoid artificial sweeteners and added sugar so I never eat it. There are tastier and more nutritious ways to use my calories.0 -

Did you tell her you don't like it? If so and she's still suggesting you eat it, I'd start getting my nutritional advice from someone other than this trainer.1 -
A good alternative would be cottage cheese plain or with some fruit in it. I eat breakstone's 2% that is packaged individually (90 calories) and sometimes add strawberries and/or blueberries to it.0

I can't seem to bring myself to like Yogurt either. I'm a picky eater, never been a fan of cottage cheese, or anything that is similar to whip cream.. cream cheese texture is about the best I can do, which I use for bagels.. I would like to like eating yogurt, I hear its healthy for you, but yeah, every buy some, I end up not liking it. if anyone finds a brand they like, let me know, and I might try it.. My biggest problem with yogurt is the texture, I'm glad I am not the only one that thinks that.0

I have the same problem! The only yogurt i know of that doesn’t smell is the one I find at the Indian grocers. Any of the brands should work but Romi’s is my personal favorite. They are very mild in flavor, have the same health benefits and just taste better with literally no smell. Obviously, if you live in a metropolitan area, more easy to get access to. Good luck!0

This thread is over 7 years old. OP has probably figured it out by now.4 -
If you really want to add yogurt to your diet, try making a fruit smoothie. Yogurt, frozen fruit, greens, and your blender.0
