Myo-inositol & D-Chiro

Options
Anybody ever use myo-inositol and/or D-chiro-inositol to help with hormone balance and weight loss?
I have pcos and struggle to lose weight no matter what I try. I just got these today and I'm very excited to try them!
Please comment your experiences! :)

Like as an injection? If you take it orally I'd think you'd just digest it and it wouldn't do anything. That is why type I diabetics inject insulin instead of just eating it, because if you eat it you'd just digest it.

Are there any studies supporting the idea that oral delivery of myo-inositol would stimulate a horomonal response at all let alone an advantageous one?

For people with PCOS, some studies suggest these things might help with levels of various hormones and other relevant things in the bloodstream (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4963579/) and they might also help with fertility (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5011528/). They may also help with insulin resistance (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5078644/). This article is a review of many different studies: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5097808/.

However, a couple of caveats: 1) all of this research is still quite new, 2) many studies had very small sample sizes, and 3) very few of these studies examined weight loss. That would lead me to be cautious about evaluating the results, and I would absolutely talk to your doctor about any supplement you're considering taking.

I am looking for similar experiences from folks! After years of the standard approaches for PCOS and reading the new research, I decided to try inositol for myself. It is a safe substance that *probably* helps liver health anyway, so the possibility of harm is very low... why not? I have been taking the brand name ovasitol for a couple of weeks. I'll let you know if there are any changes that I can actually notice. As far as bloodwork, I may not have that done again this year.
