Salt+ Edema=A Nightmare!
After my lowest of 193 lbs, May 5th.....
I gained 10 lbs! I will take responsibility and note that my diet has been high in salt, which triggered a flare up. At times, my salt count (especially at dinner meals) were in the 3K range! Oops! My calories and workouts have been really great, but I decided to go rogue, and...
***BREAK OUT THE SAUNA SWEAT SUIT!***
It did the trick!! I lost -7 lbs of out 10 in just a few days. Almost to where I was earlier this month. woo-hoo! I'm still working on it. I hope to break through the 180s by late may/early june. *prayer hands*
****6th-19th: Ups/downs/highest weight, 203! salt, water...
****week of the 20th-26th: 196 lbs
I am not giving up. I need one more miracle in May!

Holy moley! I grumble about my 2-3 lb. bipolar weight swings.
Sauna sweat suit? It's a real thing?
Glad you're back on the right side of Onderland, but please be careful. Swings like that can't be good for you.
I have been battling puffiness too. Warm weather brings it for sure.

I fluxed up 5.5 pounds this weekend, unfortunately for me it’s a normal thing to gain and loose that much in a day or two. Still hard not to freak out a bit when you see the numbers go up like that lol. We still have a few days left in May, let’s make them count!!3

Hey guys! The June challenge is now up and running.
If you wish to continue in June search for the challenge titled ‘Lose 5lbs + in June 2018’
Hope to see you all there for another amazing monthx

This will be my first challenge, but I am in dire need of some support! While becoming more active in the last few months, I still struggle with eating habits. I need to remind myself I will not see change without making a change. I am looking forward to the challenge and 5 lbs is a feasible goal!

Well...it's not 5 lbs...but maybe I will do a last check-in on May 31st. Also, I went on vacation this past week and didn't completely gain all of it back so I say that's a win! Granted, the vacation was hiking in the National Parks in southern Utah so I was hiking 10+ miles a day for 3 days, but at least I didn't eat too terribly! A few plates of mac and cheese and some pizza of course, but it's a life style right?!5 -

May 7- 256.0
May 14- 248.2

My body is quite used it to the big swings, it's heredity. I've been dealing with this since I was a teenager. No biggie. The sauna suit, that is the real deal--and yes it works--but, that's one thing you have to be careful about is not overdoing it. You can get severely dehydrated! I will only wear the suit every once in a while during the summer season only. I feel as it's more dangerous to take water pills (that can damage your kidneys) oppose to wearing a sauna suit, whereas you can sweat out the fluid naturally. Either way it's MY FAULT that my meals lately have been VERY HIGH in sodium. Silly me....1 -
Original starting weight - Not my highest weight since joining MFP, but my highest recent weight was 192.9 lbs on March 1, 2018.
May starting weight - 179
May goal - 174

May 1st - 179.0
May 8th - 178.1
May 15th - 177.7
May 22nd - 175.3
May 29th - 178.6

Ah- 2 restaurant meals from the weekend are hanging on :-O Not horrible splurges.. 85% of a "normal-sized" (aka not Chipotle) burrito and a beer for one dinner, and Vietnamese-style hot pot restaurant where I avoided the rice paper wrappers and stuck with mostly meat and veggies... but I know there's so much sodium in these types of meals. One restaurant meal a week tends to undo all the good decisions of the week; Two will put me back in the opposite direction.
Two more weigh-ins till the end of the month. At this point, the new goal is to lose more than 1 pound for the month of May. Better than where I startedBack to good decisions- joining a friend for her birthday dinner tonight but will eat beforehand so I don't eat there

Water pills scare me too. I suppose if they are prescribed by a doctor to manage a condition, thatbis one thing, but the OTC ones can easily be misused.
My weight is up again today. Sore muscles from overdoing some power cleaningI am sure it's water too. I always get puffy after over-exertion.

It would have been hard to gain that much in a week of fat, has to be water. I went up 6 lbs and back down from Friday to Tuesday, don’t get discouraged!

So close! May was a stellar month for me nonetheless. Thanks to all for the support! It really helped keep me motivated! Hoping June goes just as well. I will be out of the country for 2 weeks, but will have access to a kitchen so am hoping to stay on track. Plus, I won't have my young pup with me so I can make my daily 1-3 mile walks some jogs/runs instead!

Even though I didn't meet my goal for the month of May, I'm able to see how much/how easily a restaurant meal can affect my progress. Nice to see the week-to-week written out this way to drill the point home. As I move into June, I will remember to ONLY eat out for special occasions that I feel are absolutely worth the extra calories/carbs/sodium, knowing that that meal will likely set me back by ~2 weeks. But I'm in this for the long haul, so sometimes there are occasions that are worth it. I know I can't eat 100 perfect meals each month- gotta work on that balance!1 -

Stepped on the scale at 5 am. Couldn't believe it. Waited an hour to see if anything else needed "settling". Stepped on again...still there. Whatever caused it I'll take it.
