Very new to Keto. Started Saturday but only started MFP on Sunday.
So far so good. I’m at the end of my rope, so I need to stick with this.3 -
I love carbs way too much to try it. @Bikermama2fourboys, if keto doesn't work for you, there are other options. As long as you are in a calorie deficit, you will lose weight.4

Best of success. I was at the VERY end of my rope four years ago at the age of 63. Four years later my rope now has plenty of slack for comfort. While I did it to try to keep from dying prematurely over the first year I did loss 50 pounds without trying but did it high calorie since weight loss was not on my agenda.
At 67 my health and health markers are better than 30 years ago and today was successfully in helping the daughter put some hay in the barn for her mini horses. She was worried about me falling jumping on and off of the trailer packing it to the barn she said until she saw how my range of motion and strength had improved. Driving the tractors to mow, etc is almost as easy as when I was 12-15 years old. The range of motion seems to be in part due to the reduction in the arthritis deposits in the joints.
Now keto was a failure for me a few times because I was unaware that I was addicted to carbs. It was a hellish two weeks when I learned that fact and left all foods containing added sugars and or any form of any grains but after two weeks the cravings and binging were fading fast. In just 30 days I had much decreased pain. It was day 45 BEFORE I lost the first pound but had already lost much of my fat jaws. Six months in 40 years of life defining IBS resolved before I realized it had resolved.
Remember there are many ways one can eat besides Keto. While Keto has been very great for my health I think the key to sticking with it is because I have never once gone hungry in the last four years. While I do try to keep my total daily carbs just under 50 grams it is not a matter of tracking after the first few weeks but if I want to eat I eat until I get full then stop automatically hence the binging is long since gone in my case.
Best of success in learning the Way Of Eating that works best for your health. After 700 days of this WOE I am still learning more details on how to do Keto and why keto is improving my health. It is nothing magical but just simple science that is not taught much in the world of medicine today. However if one needs Keto for better health Keto can seem like PURE magic.12 -
Keto has been a great success for me lost 50lbs in a year and a half ... now hitting the gym to get lean ... don’t intend to lose more weight
Keeping keto simple has kept me on long term and probably forever ... a cheat meal or two during a months time4 -
I find that three months in your completely converted to fat burner instead of sugar

I don’t think just having a calorie deficit is best ... because you might not be getting all the nutrients your body needs

What I do is add Himalayan salt to everything I eat and that does the trick ... but that me ... everyone is different so you’ll have to experiment yourself to see what works

Started Jan 11, 2018. SW 235 CW 190. 45 pounds down so far. Just doing 5 % carbs and using egg fast when necessary to break plateaus. I try not to have "cheat days" I prefer "cheat meals" or better yet, " earn meals". This is use as a strategy for keeping up metabolism, curing cravings and keeping myself from feeling deprived. I also intermittent fast usually 16:8 but if I am very hungry early on a given day I simply eat my keto early. My body knows what it needs and will always speak to me. I am happy to hear you are doing great. It gives me inspiration and for that I thank you. Best wishes to you on your continued journey / lifestyle.7

Coming from the person nearly completely cutting out their body’s main source of energy and going on egg fasts... a calorie deficit is the only way to lose weight, but how one balances nutrition while maintaining that defecit, well, to each their own on that I suppose...
