I got no speed, that’s why I do marathons and now Ironman events.0

Endurance, speed might cause a heart attack and possibly addiction.1

Depending on your end state goals both are beneficial. But like anything balance is the key.
Sure you can run for an hour or more but maybe you only get 6 miles, thats 10 minute mile pace, but toss in a few days with some dirty nast speed workouts and you could say drop those mile times down in to the 8 minute pace and then your looking at almost 10 miles in an hour.
Why when I train I do a mix of Paced, Paced Distance, Speed and then Recovery Runs. Depending on where Im at in my calendar and circuit (alternating cardio and lifting) and time of year.0 -

Speed mostly but every once in a while a nice long endurance "ride" hits the spot.0

Endurance. Sometimes I have to go for hours. Tennis is like that.2

I signed up for my first 50 mile ultra marathon this week, and it’s held in November. I’ve ran 48 marathons but now I need to almost double that length for this event.0

It's a trick question.
