Is there a feature that gives suggestions as to what I should eat to finish my day balanced on macronutrients? For example, I'm at the end of my day and I have met my fat goal but am short on protein and carbs. That sure would go a long way to help me learn good choices!

For the most part, I just focus on hitting my protein goal and allow fat and carbs to fall where they may. If I need more protein at the end of the day I'll have a protein shake.

Depends what your macro / weight loss/gain goals are :-)

    A quick answer

    High protein and low fat:
    Lean chicken/meat
    Prawns/white fish
    Egg whites
Protein shake (will help with carbs too)

    Carbs:
    Vegetables
    Rice
    Bread
    Pasta

But you can change your macros - if you enjoy eating fats more and feel more satiated then increase that macro and drop one of the others

Your protein needs will vary depending on your activity level - I aim for 1.1gm x lb of lean body mass because I weight lift and am trying to cut body fat.
My lean body mass is 119 - so just over 130gm of protein (500cal worth or about 40%).

I personally make up the rest with mainly fat and minimal carbs (ketogenic) because I can’t eat the delicious carbs anyway because I can’t eat gluten and I feel way better on low carb but whatever works for you :-)

MFP does not have anything official like that.

It does get easier once you get some consistent logging under your belt to make choices throughout the day that will balance out your numbers, and prelogging really can help as well. And keep in mind your macros are just a guide, don't sweat it too much if you don't make them work every day - calories are priority numero uno.

If I needed to add protein and carbs without much fat at the end of the day, I'd probably be planning some low fat dairy, like a flavored yogurt.

There is an infographic floating around here somewhere about what foods to choose for which macro...
