So I'm going to a wedding on Sept 1, 2018. Very good friends of ours are finally tieing the knot and my husband is the best man. This couple were present at our wedding 2 years ago and stood for us.

Since then I've had some serious Heath issues that caused me to gain over 40 lbs.

Ive been at weddings since and hated myself in every picture. I don't want that to happen again. This event means so much to us and i want to feel good in my skin. So I've decided that since I've been doing MUCH better lately (mentally, emotionally and physically) I'm going to re-invest myself in weight loss.

Their wedding is happening 1 month before our 3rd wedding anniversary and I want so desperately to be the same size I was for my wedding. There's a special dress that I wore before my wedding that my husband LOVES and I want to fit into it again so that I can wear it for the big day.

I will weigh every Saturday morning. (And ONLY Saturday mornings so that I don't get obsessive about it).

I plan on working out 3x per week. So each Saturday I will post my weight and a "Y" or "N" to let you know if I hit my workout goal that week.

Those of you who would like to join me are welcome to post your Goal and weekly weight (or measurements or whatever you use to keep track of your success). I'm looking for some positivity and support. This is going to be a long journey. I'll need to lose 1.4 lbs per week in order to reach my goal. I'd love to hear your next big life event that you're getting fit for.

Starting weight: 200.6 lbs
Goal weight: 160 lbs

So probably no one is still reading this but that’s ok. I was hoping to have a weekly weigh-in partner, but then again, I stopped posting weekly because I was too embarrassed that I kept gaining and then I forgot about this goal chat I’d started. I figure since it’s here, I’ll just keep posting in case I find someone out there who’s in a similar situation and wants to post weekly results.

I’m still weighting weekly and I’ve made some really positive changes.
I’ve filled in the weights I know about:

    Starting weight: 200.6 lbs
    Goal weight: 160 lbs

    Mar. 17: 207.2

    May. 26: 202.2
    Jun. 02: 201.8
June 08*: 197.8!!! Finally in Onederland! There’s hope for me yet! *my trainer changed my routine and moved my weigh-ins to Friday’s.

I don't post any of my stats or meals, diary, starting/ending weight. I've joined all kinds of dieting clubs and it never worked for the long term. Look back, can you count on less than 5 fingers the number of times that you have found lasting weight stability by posting data points and putting pressure on yourself.

Buy another extra special dress and enjoy yourself at the wedding. Think gentle changes for the permanent WIN. Eat foods you like and find exercise or movement that you can actually enjoy for the rest of your life. The trainer has changed your routine and weigh-ins. Can you hang with it.

Back in the day, there was a time when we didn't need wellness coaches, trainers, food cops and police to monitor our every move. We took full responsibility for ourselves and somehow, we managed to navigate our way through the sharky waters. Don't pressure yourself or once the wedding is over you may find yourself going back to what brought you here in the first place. If you only release 4 lbs instead of 40 between now and the wedding, so be it. Go slow. Being gentle with yourself can be just as effective or better than extreme.

Hi! I am in a similar situation, except it is my daughter getting married Sept. 16, 2018. I had lost 38 lbs 2 years ago, but have stopped logging and exercising and have put it all back on. I hope to loose 2 lbs a week or more if possible and keep it off. I want to be able to get on the eliptical and stay on without feeling exhausted for a few minutes. Trying to build up and do other exercises. I also hate myself in pictures, they are all awful. I wish I had started seriously trying sooner. This time I am getting the weight off and stay logging, exercising and weighing to keep myself on track. I just counted 14 weeks until the wedding. My profile picture was at my lowest 2 yrs ago about 144. I am now 184. Lost 3 recently. I am 5 ft 4 inches.

Thank you for your post @Nataliegetfit ! I’m excited to see your progress! Weddings are wonderful, exciting, events but it can also be busy and stressful time. I remember planning mine and all of the parties and events leading up to it with all of the fantastic food! It was very hard to stay good and I’ll admit my wedding dress was a bit tighter than I’d hoped on the big day. Lol

I find having something concrete to work towards is excellent motivation and with this short-term goal (a wedding) in mind I’m hoping to teach myself good habits and get into a new routine to a better/healthier me! Like @Mari22na pointed out, it’s also important to be kind to ourselves. So I’ve already decided that if I don’t hit that specific number I’m going to try to be happy with whatever progress I make between here and there.

I wish you luck and success on this journey!

You’re doing great! Sometimes life takes its sweet time to get where we want to go, but you’re headed in the right direction!

Sure, the wedding is important to you, I totally get it. Just remember that these changes are for the rest of your life as well. Also, congratulations on one-derland! That’s huge!

2 weeks to go until the wedding!!!!

Since there’s 2 weeks to go and I’m still in the 80’s I’m obviously not going to hit my original ultimate goal of 160 before then. (If I hadn’t have gained all that weight in Feb-May I might have been a bit closer... but no biggy). I’ve lost 24 lbs since May and I’m going to keep training and weighing on Friday’s. I’m feeling amazing! With all of the working out my body shape has changed and I feel great!

My next goal is New Years Eve where I would like to be 177 lbs which would be a loss of 10 lbs in 19 weeks which I believe is reasonable with my current path.

Wishing you all a fantastic end to your summer!
