Help with jeggings/jeans

Hi everyone, so lately i’ve been thinking about having jeggings. I don’t own any jeans or jeggings and decided to go and try on different ones in different shops.

I make sure to check the size guides first of the stores I go into so that I have some idea of what size I am likely going to be in the store. But no matter what size jeggings I go for they all do this funny thing on the back of my thighs, even to the point that the jeggings are going to fall off me!

I am a dress size UK 6 (US 2) with a waist measurement of 24”, hip measurement of 34” and a thigh measurement of 20.5”.

I found a good example online of how any size jeggings look on me at the thighs:

I have tried on straight leg jeans and they don’t seem to do this type of thing as bad as jeggings do.

So are jeggings meant to look like that or am I just a general bad fit for jeggings?

Thanks!

A more stretchier version of jeans, a mix of leggings and jeans. We have them in the UK but not sure if the USA have them?

Find your brand. Express has a good fitting jegging that stays tight throughout the day. There are also Freddy Jeans, which are pricey but worth the buy.

I have never been confident enough to wear jeggings, but my daughters prefer the super skinny jeans. Jeggings are meant to be stretchy, so they bunch up under the booty and behind the knees.

Thanks for this! I think I tried on some skinny jeans and they did exactly the same thing as what the jeggings did with my thighs. When you look at the images of models wearing the skinny jeans and jeggings, I don’t see any creases or folds like I have on my legs. It seems like it’s mega smooth and flawless on them which made me question why the jeans/jeggings were looking like as they were on me....

I also read somewhere that the type of problem I was having was the fact that the jeans/jeggings were too tight in the thighs, but that’s what jeggings and skinny jeans do though right?

I’ll keep a look out for them! I’ve tried Superdry, Hollister, Jack Wills, River Island and H&M so far with their jeans and jeggings. But all have given me sausage like thighs :'(

Well you can't go by how they look on models, either they have no fanny, hence no wrinkles, or more likely they are photo-shopped....
I'm still stuck on the fact that you've never worn jeans.... I live in jeans...

I'm confused, what's wrong with the pic above?

Some of the cheaper brand jeggings tend to fit some people oddly or sag throughout the day.
Opt for a better quality pair and see how it goes.

Remember that models photos are often Photoshopped. Comparison is the Thief of joy.
If you like jeggings and want to wear them, go for it.

Jeggings look absolutely awful on me. They give me a double booty and I look like a stuffed sausage. :s Which is strange because leggings look fantastic on me.

I love jeans with some stretch and larger in the hips/glutes/ thighs so that doesn't happen.. as much.

With your figure try hunting down some cotton jeans (100% cotton), yes they are hard to find, but I know that Levi's 501's are still cotton. They may be a better fit. Different bands & materials will fit differently on different figures.

Same. I live in leggings and look fantastic in them.
Jeggings don't look very nice on me and seem to bunch up in strange places and cut in on other places. Sometimes resulting in the sausage look or even worse. ....camel toe.....

In my experience, the more Lycra in the fabric of the jeans, the more they tend to bunch. I don’t mind jeans with a little stretch, but I don’t like so much that they feel like actual leggings. I feel denim is more flattering when it has a bit more substance. Finding the perfect jeans requires a bit of trial and error. Often different washes (or colors) in the same style/cut can fit differently from one another...not just in the lower priced brands, but even in premium denim.

Ive never found jeans with larger areas with glues or thighs that didn't give me a 4-5 inch gap in the waist band. Oh and apparently I have giant calves because some skinny jeans I can't get on because of them.
Hence I live in leggings no sausaging, no rolls, no bunching , no pinching, no digging in, no falling off me, no excess fabric in weird places.

I've got fleecy ones for winter and a pair of corduroy jeggings ones too, thick shinier ones for dressier occasions, light thin ones for summer.
In black, red, blue, reindeer print, Galaxy print, skull print, basically everything except I'd like a pair of dark green ones.

The only ones that work for me so far are Old Navy mid-rise Rockstar (some of them.. not all versions for some reason) They aren't perfect but best I could find without paying too much.

I think that is how most people look in jeggings. I don't think it looks bad. I guess if it feels uncomfortable don't wear them.
I personally feel uncomfortable in jeggings. Regular knit leggings are fine but jeggings arejust different enough.

Next 360 stretch jeggings are great, though I agree with not being able to see what's wrong with the pictures...

I'm a fan of jeggings, in the UK there are several great brands that do good quality jeggings : Dorothy Perkins/ M&S / Debenhams/ Next. Personally I prefer the ones that have zips and button closure rather than the pull on variety. Higher waist ones are flattering.

I'm wearing Dorothy Perkins white ones in my profile pic.

I think the jeggings in the pic might just be a touch too long for you which is what's causing the bunching round the knees and ankles (also to me they look more like skinny jeans as the fabric seems quite thick). Good old M&S jeggings are the best fit for me personally and they come in short, regular and long lengths, with Next a close second for stretch and choice of leg length. I also have a pair of black skinny jeans from New Look that feel and fit me like jeggings as the fabric is softer and stretchier than normal denim. As others have said, just shop around for a brand that fits better.

they are jeans in the picture not jeggings. Jeggings aren't actually denim. if they were they would be skinny jeans.

Yeah, I'm super picky about denim as well because I have short thick legs, but the brands I mentioned are the ones I'm loyal to!
