Co-worker “detoxing”

I have a co-worker who went home early yesterday because she said she was sick from detoxing from sugar. She is telling everyone today that she still feels sick from her detox. I asked her why she thought she needed to “detox”. After telling me that “ people” have told her sugar is very toxic, she also told me she didn’t eat yesterday until after she went home; then she felt better. I tried to point out that she probably just needed to eat, and that was why she didn’t feel well. I know I should just keep my mouth shut and stay out of it. You can’t really get through, can you?

Ya, we had a long thread on coworkers recently and the consensus was to not bother to try to get through.11

Ask her if she thinks fruits are toxic too17

Shake your head, roll your eyes and move on.8

Bring in a doughnut tomorrow eat it and then act out a death scene.72

First, you have to be 'Toxed' to get detoxed. The body does a fine job of detoxing everything through the liver and kidneys. If we were really 'toxed' or poisoned UP, sepsis would set in. Does she have a 'leaky gut', too. I know someone with a leaky gut for 4 years now. She's leaking everywhere she goes but still kickin' and no sepsis. She does eat extra special things to keep the leaking in check but it's not working.8

if sugar was toxic wouldn't she be sick from eating them, not after "detoxing" from them? Just walk away and don't enter in conversation with her when she talks about it.4

ask her how long she has had liver and kidney problems14

Or bring in something really delicious like pie which is far superior to cake. But don't skip acting out the death scene...

It is almost like "detoxing from sugar" is the in thing to do. To me it is like the term "eating clean" ..I have to admit it bugs me when I hear people talk like that.3

I had to click "Inspiring" for this because now I really want a brownie...TEAM BROWNIE all the way!!!!!8 -
You could always just give her some positive encouragement and explain the benefits of reducing sugar is not because it’s toxic but because reducing sugar = reducing calories! Probably best not to let her know she is the subject of forum sarcasm - she might not think too kindly of you!19

Just smile and nod. Usually best just to mind your own business when it comes to coworkers and their eating habits and hope that they do the same.
There's a lot of woo floating around my office, too, and while it can be infuriating, it's just not worth my time trying to talk sense to them.3 -

Brownies trump cake but they are still one note texturally. A pie has a crust.

Nuts, chocolate chips...so many things you can put in them but even without it they put the smackdown on pie any day.6 -
I'm normally a cake person, but it's almost peach pie season...8

I assume you mean crunchy since smooth would be the same texture.
Pies can be savory or sweet. They can also be FRIED. They are more versatile as-is.

You've obviously never had a cake sammich with a pinch of pie.10 -

Not in the ones I make, peanut butter isn't the same consistency as brownie batter3 -

I live in the south and peaches are a big deal here this time of year. Nothing better than a warm gooey peach cobbler made with fresh peaches from our farmers market. Even better if you have room in your calories for vanilla ice cream to go with it.
I think I may just have to make one this weekend...2 -
