Calories?

I’m 212 pounds at 5’3. My heaviest weight was 260. I used Keto and got down to 185 last year. Keto is unrealistic for me. I can’t stick to it forever and obviously the weight comes back. 2 pounds a week says 1200 calories should I do this or go higher? Starting over sucks.

1200 is the absolute minimum MFP will assign a female to ensure adequate nutrition needs are met. Because of that, it’s unlikely you’ll be able to have a high enough deficit to lose 2 pounds a week (you have to be 1000 calories below maintenance). Lower your goal to 1.5 pounds per week to get some more calories.

As for the weight coming back with keto, this was addressed in the replies to your post last night.

Welcome. Keto is unrealistic for me as well. I prefered to learn the tools I needed for long term success. I learned portion control and moderation. Now there's no need for any special diet or gimmicks,I have the knowledge to be successful for the long run.
Weight loss comes down to calories. As long as you create a calorie deficit you will lose weight.
    Calories in calories out.

Lots of people have, it's quite the fad right now. But weight loss still comes down to consuming less calories than you burn, no matter what you eat or what time of the day you eat it.

Keto and IF are helpful for some people because it helps them control their intake and stick to their calorie goals. But just like any other diet or any other eating pattern, you'll still gain weight if you consume more calories than you expend.

I do.....but, I do Keto because of high A1C. So, I am doing it to be healthy. I am also VERY FORTUNATE in that I can eat the same seven or eight things for a super long time (read: removing carbs from my diet is not really a challenge for me....). As @AnvilHead stated, Keto is no magic pill. It all comes down to Calories In vs. Calories Out.

I have actually been enjoying a little too much bacon and salad dressing the last few weeks and am up a couple of pounds. Not a worry to me....I am enjoying life a little bit. I do have goals and will get back on track, starting today. Life has been a bit rough....so allowing myself some simple pleasures (no, not an emotional eater and I have a fantastic relationship with fuel, er, um, I mean food).

The Ketogenic Lifestyle works well for me. But, it is DECIDEDLY not for everyone. It is VERY restrictive. That is the deal breaker for a lot of folks.

IF is simply a schedule.....lots of people ignorantly translate IF as "skipping breakfast". No....it is simply a schedule of eating. During these 16 hours I am not going to eat. During these eight hours I am going to eat.

This can be a challenge, too. It can be a bit of a struggle to get all of your caloric intake in the "scheduled eat" time. I usually suggest that people *NOT* go straight to the 16:8 IF schedule but maybe - depending on where they are now - the 14:10 IF schedule.

I liken moving to IF to going from drinking two or three glasses of water a day to drinking eight glasses of water a day. It takes some time for the body to adapt! And, during that "adapt phase" it is hard af to get all that water down. Same thing with IF.

Hope that this helps, man! Feel free to ask any questions. I likely experienced it....I have been playing - if I might loosely use that word - with training and nutrition for the last several months. So, as I stated, I have probably exeperienced it.....
