This morning my alarm went off, and every part of me wanted to snooze for another hour. Yet I found myself getting out of bed, putting on my workout gear, and turning on my DVD. My alarm clock app that annoys me into waking up has proven to be helpful, lol.
Also, this weekend I was able to hop and shimmy myself into size 4 skinny jeans, and button them. They were still a little small, but I'm hoping they might fit this fall. It's too bad though, they were really cute, but I wasn't ready to buy them. They'll probably be gone by then. But there will be others. I need to probably stop shopping for new clothes, but some of my current outfits are beginning to get frumpy.
I was also able to tame a dragon dress I couldn't wear a while ago. Sadly some other ones I bought and were waiting "until I lose a little bit" are now ill fitting. Boo.
They might still be there! If I love something like that, I'll buy it and hang it on my closet as motivation. I plan on doing that once the current dragonpants are well tamed and too big.
DRAGON DRESS. YESSSS. Sucks they didn't fit the same, but it's good to know things are marching in the right direction!!
I thought REALLY hard about buying them anyways. They were sexy "leather" leggings and looked GOOD (albeit a little muffin toppy). BUT since I am working out more, I was a little afraid they wouldn't fit the same 6 months or a year from now. If I'm lucky and they are truly meant to be, I'll find them on the clearance rack during back to school season.
If the fit turns from Pillsbury dough girl (too tight), to potato sack(ill fitting, or frumpy), does that still classify it as Dragon Dress? I'm tempted to take one of them in to a seamstress (AKA Dragon Slayer) after I feel I'm in a more permanent size.4 -

Oooh yeah. Some pants aren't so easily downsized into. Jeans are more forgiving than most, but tailored stuff can be tricky. It would suck to get down to where they fit only to find that a loose fit is not so awesome. I get that!
Hah! Absolutely! You still tamed that dragon! I would definitely get it tailored for you when you're done. Esp if it's something you love. I have a few things I plan on doing that with myself.4 -
My poor math skills and lack of attention led to a 175 lb deadlift on Saturday! ( not the 165 I was thinking I’d do). I also did a training session with my super strong friend and mostly kept up with all the lower body moves—she was complaining about a lack of progress on squats and our trainer friend told her to squat like me I’m no great shakes, but apparently I am not making a fool of myself either. Yay!
Also got to share clothes with my 6 & 8 yo yesterday the 4 yo loved pointing out that I was wearing “his” shirt all day (it’s a boys M, so way to big for him, but fits the older two fine, they just don’t like the color). Not quite how I’d pictured the sharing clothes moment, but with 4 boys I suppose this is the best I’m going to get!23 -
I weighed and measured two days early, today, just to see if I was on track for the week. I've lost 0.5cm from my bust this week, 2cm from my waist and 1.5cm from my hips! But the most exciting part, was I looked at my total measurement loss, and it's now 6cm total lost from my bust, 7cm from my waist, and 3cm from my hips! I'm very happy about this.
Also, I went down a waist size today. I am in pms, so I just wanted to check how things were going, and this was a pleasant surprise.22 -
I'm having a more active week than usual where I've been walking >25,000 steps a day.
Before this would have left me exhausted but I'm feeling strong, happy and healthy!22 -
The thought: "Ugh I might have to start wearing a belt with these jeans" crossed my mind this morning22

30 pushups in a row feels like a breeze now. Less than two years ago 15 was a struggle. Now when I push myself i can do 34-35 and if I drink a lot of coffee I have gotten up to 40! Lol I know Coffee isn't a health food, but hey I'm not complaining about the results.25

Today at the gym, I added some weights to exercises that had previously been body weight only: lunges and hyperextensions. I'm especially proud of the lunges (a 5kg plate in both hands), since maybe a year ago it was a huge victory that I was able to do ONE proper lunge. Now I did two rounds of walking lunges with weights, probably 12 reps per leg per set.22

Wait... Coffee isn't health food?! Who says?! Blasphemy! Coffee is life.
Unless of course it's an XL Mocha Chocka Latte that turns out to be 600 calories... Congratulations on the pushups! That's a great accomplishment.17 -

I took a vacation and for the first time in at least 10 years, I didn’t need a seatbelt extender on a plane!!!
And I also got to use the tray tables and armrests, and they went all the way down flat, not slightly angled because they were sitting on my stomach or legs! And I didn’t touch legs with the people next to me!43 -
Also, I hit my step goal of 7,500 two days in a row! Never done that before! And yesterday it was because I was stuck at a small airport for seven hours and walked laps around the terminal because I was cold (it was freezing in there!) and bored. When the gates were empty, I even went up and down the aisles of chairs.29

COFFEE IS LIFE!
Though I agree on the calorie-laden coffees... those are the #1 reason why I gained my weight. 2 ventis a day sometimes + lots of other sugary drinks equaled a slow gain without any real knowledge of calories. That + a super sedentary gaming lifestyle ended up my downfall. XD One of the best things to come out of understanding calories was to find a way to keep coffee without sinking my battleship, so to speak!
Still coffee is LIFE. Mmmmm.
To keep on track... an NSV? This week is a slow week NSV-wise, but it IS birthday week and I do feel kind of awesome. And the dragonpants might just get paraded about town as a sign of their defeat.10 -
I know a few people who drink those milk shakes disguised as coffee. Give me a break! When I go out of bounds, at least I am straight up about it.10
-
@dhiammarath Yes I'm pretty sure my coffee habit was my downfall while I worked retail. It was a 450 calorie pick me up I enjoyed several times a week, and sometimes even several times per day! Plus coffee beans, AND Energy drinks some days. Since switching to my office job I only would drink coffee with creamer, and have swapped to sugar free for the most part this year. I wonder if that's part of what kept me from GAINING when my activity level tanked switching from retail to desk job?
Would it be an NSV to say that while I decided to go treat myself to a coffee shop coffee today, I ordered sugar free, and with almond milk. As opposed to the sugared syrup and full fat milk they use? I honestly didn't even think about it. Last year though, I would have ordered the full calorie version and wouldn't have blinked.
@CarvedTones My husband is one of those milk shake coffee drinkers! It could damn near stand up on its own it's so sweet.

I ordered some new trousers because they were buy one get one half off, and I looked at the measurements and apprehensively ordered the 18. They're here, and they fit! There's something on MY butt that has a 1 as the first digit of the size!44

Good for you! I get a little leary ordering online using the measurements too.
A few weeks ago I reluctantly bought a pair of size 12 jeans at Costco (out of town) where I could not try them on. I had fit some size 12s but you know...all companies have different sizes so I was a little unsure. They ended up fitting! A few days later I wore the new jeans to Walmart. When I was looking at shoes I bend down and felt something on the back of my leg. The long size 12 sticker was stuck to my leg!
Yeah I am wearing a size 12 and proud of it! Everyone needs to see! 😁😁😁26 -
Ok, so this is mostly a SV but wasn't really sure where to put it.
Decided about 8 weeks ago that enough's enough, time to get rid of the weight for good.
I was originally 115kg (253 pounds) and had gotten down to 75kg (165 pounds). I'm 169cm, about 5"6'.
However over a few years it had crept back up to 93.8kg (206 pounds) and I was feeling terrible again.
Just after I decided to lose the weight someone at work started a 'biggest loser' challenge. I thought this could be a good kick start and decided to join and do it right, just exercise and clean eating (mostly).
Well today was my final weigh in and I'm now at 83.3kg (183 pounds)
Feeling awesome, fitter than ever and getting lots of compliments.
The rest of the team are weighing in tomorrow. I'm hopeful I might have won, but that's the thing, I don't really care.
I did this for me, I'm very happy with the results and I'll be sticking to it!
TL:DR - I lost 10.5kg (23 pounds) in 8 weeks and I did it cleanly and for me.19 -
I can take off my skinny jeans without undoing them. My waist is getting snatched!21

My wedding band fell off today and I had no clue 🙃🙃🙃14

I had a body composition analysis done today, which is kinda close to being a scale victory, but still. This was a follow-up to the analysis I had 6 months ago.
Body fat 37.1% -> 33.7%
Muscle mass 33.5kg -> 34.1kg
Amount of fat 35.1kg -> 30.8kg
Visceral fat score 152.0 -> 128.2 (according to the coach, this was pretty much the best thing ever)
The analysis was followed by a one-on-one health and wellness coaching session, and the coach was shocked with how good my results are (especially the fact that I had both gained muscle and lost fat), and her coaching advice was to just keep doing what I'm doing. She was fully aware of the fact that I had just had a glass of champagne for dessert an hour earlier. I'm liking this everything-in-moderation-thing.21 -
THE GREEN COAT FITS AGAIN!! About 2 years ago, I spent $320 on this amazing calf length, faux fur lined coat that I really couldn’t afford but you don’t understand how much I NEEDED it. It’s sat in my closet, teasing me, ever since because it JUST didn’t fit and I then gained about 15kgs (which I’ve lost, as of this morning) so I was able to get into it and button it up - just with no clothes on. This coat is now my ‘dragon’ coat. Will post a pic when I’m in it comfortably. Yay!42

This is an NSV for everybody! I’m sitting on the tube, reading through hundreds of your NSVs and the lady opposite me just said “You look like you’ve had some very good news!” because I’m beaming from ear to ear. See how much joy your victories spread! Well done to everyone! Your good news touches so many people you don’t even know! X69

Had some stressful days lately. Didn't sleep well last night. Alarm goes off at 5:30 AM - there's a message from the trainer - "Boot camp is cancelled". Oh, goody - an unscheduled rest day. Second alarm goes off at 5:35 AM - that one woke up my sense of discipline. "Ya know - you can get a workout in, anyway." Took a few minutes to rally myself, but I got up and went out and walked 4+ miles. With a pace under 16 minutes per mile - something that always makes me happy. Discipline trumps motivation.35

I've walked down it. I've walked up it.
I've walked down it pushing a buggy. I've walked up it pushing a buggy.
I've walked down it holding hands with a toddler. I've walked up it holding hands with a toddler.
I've run down it.
I've cycled down it (this was a little disappointing, didn't get to an interesting speed).
Today, I finally decided to heck with the traffic, I was going to cycle UP it.
So I did. I thought that I was going to die, especially as there's a bump near the top that you have to get over and then there's more to cycle up after that. Max HR was in the 170's. My RHR is about 55bpm.
But I made it. I don't think that I've ever felt so victorious. Man, it felt so good!
Next challenge: to run up it
I have an hill on my route I usually avoid and go another way. Tuesday night I decided to try again as it is the shorter route. While I didn't make it up I did make it farther before having to stop and push than I have before. So inch by inch I am making progress27 -
@coolchick207 Oh what a victory it will be when it fits comfortably!!4
