Hi there! I think ultimately it’s going to be what size is going to make you happy. If you start building muscle, you have to take that into consideration!2

I'm between 5'7" and 5'8" so I used 5'7" on the BMI charts to pick a goal weight. The last "healthy BMI" weight I can have is 159, so I'm aiming for 154 as a target, which allows me a range of about 149-159 in maintenance, when I get there. I'm also aware I may choose to keep losing and/or focus on recomp once I retire--I'll have more time on my hands. Right now I have my goal set at 200 so I can take a diet break and practice living at maintenance for a while. Maybe I will, maybe I won't; it seemed like a good idea at the time3

Shoot for 160 as a first step. Re-evaluate then.0

I’m between 5’7” and 5’8” with a maintenance goal range of 150-155. I have a fairly large frame with broad shoulders and wider hips0
-
I am 5’7.5” so I usually round up to 5’8”. My goal is currently between 145-150. I am currently 168. I was happy when I was 155, but want a flat stomach this go around, hence the 145 goal. I say see how you feel at 160. You may be happy there, especially if you are strength training as well.0

I'm 5'8 currently 175, and my goal weight is 160...I'm fairly large framed so I'm going to see what I look like when I get there, and maybe shoot for 150-155.1

5'7 1/2"
SW 205
CW 188
GW south of 160
I'm a size 14 US at 190. Size 12 at 180. My lowest was 155 when I was younger and I was an 8/10
I'm shooting for under 160 so I'll be in a healthy BMI range. Not sure what size I'll be since I've had two kids but I'm also working out/lifting so hopefully I'll be in a better place body comp-wise!0 -
I'm 5ft 8 shooting for 154 currently at 1660

5'8", currently 149 and pretty happy with it. My ideal weight when I was younger was about 137 but I have more muscle now. Used to be 125 and that was too thin.
Healthy weight is anything under 164, get there and see what you think. What matters most is the weight you can sustain - you get fewer calories when you're smaller, so you have to work harder to maintain.0 -
I am 5.8 and feel pretty great at 157. Currently I am 163 and trying to get to 155 157 range.0

I am 5'8" with a large frame. Started at 206.8 with a goal weight of 170. Got close to that weight and changed it to 160. Got close to 160 and changed it to 156 (-50). Almost at goal now and no plans to change.1

I'm 5'7". Started at 255, thought my goal weight was 160, currently bouncing between 153-155 and would like to get to 150 I think. I'm sitting comfortably in a size 6 pant and medium tops are a little loose on me. Once you get into healthy goal range I think you will need to reassess as you go until you feel happy.0

I'm 5'9 and like to be around 135-145. I give myself a little wiggle room and use a bigger range . Right now I'm 143 .0

One point to note: The goal weight you put in your MFP profile has zero effect on the calorie goal it gives you, nor does it affect any of the other similar working calculations. The goal is just used for your "ticker" (the "lost X pounds, Y pounds yet to go" sort of thing) and various motivational messages you might get along the way.
It's fine to set your goal weight more or less arbitrarily at first (middle of the BMI range for your height, or what have you), then adjust as you go along. As you get closer to what will be your true happy weight, you'll have an increasingly good idea what that happy weight will be. If you're feeling great and looking good when you get 20 pounds above your initial goal, stop there. If you get to your initial goal and still aren't feeling/looking how you'd like to, reset the goal downward.
No need to agonize over it, just guess. It doesn't change the process along the way at all; it just changes where you stop losing, and start maintaining.
Best wishes!

I'm 5'7", currently 143lbs aiming for 130lbs. I'd say aim for 150lbs and see how you feel!0

I'm 5'7" and weigh 147. Although I would like to lose a few more pounds it's currently not my top priority. Right now I'm focusing on body re-composition. I would just set a goal to get healthier and take it from there. Focusing on one magic number on the scale can get frustrating!1

Why not just lose weight and evaluate as you go?2

I’m 5’8” and 160. I feel really good at this weight. I am a large/medium frame and 51. I really wanted to lose 5 lbs more, but I start feeling bad below 159 and give up and go back to maintainamce. I’ve always been overweight or obese and have gained and lost at least 50 lbs about 9 times and haven’t ever been under 170 for more than a week (except this time). I lost 72 lbs and aimed for a goal I hope I can maintain. I started maintenance on April 1 and will work hard to stay here.3

But if you want a number & your wrist is < 6.25 in. Sounds like 126-140 lbs.
From LIVESTRONG:
Women with medium-sized frames, who are 5 feet 8 inches tall, have an ideal body weight of 140 pounds, according to the University of Washington. Add 10 percent – equivalent to 154 pounds – for large-framed women and subtract 10 percent, which is 126 pounds, for women who are 5 feet 8 inches tall who have small frames.
Use your wrist circumference to determine your frame size. Women who are 5 feet 8 inches tall are small-framed if their wrist size is less than 6.25 inches, medium-framed if their wrist is 6.25 to 6.5 inches around and large-framed, if their wrist circumference is more than 6.5 inches, according to MedlinePlus.
I went for first number in the normal range
BMI for my height. When I got there, I realized I wanted to lose some more weight AND I realized I am now shorter than when I was younger.
I am sure you will know it when you get there! Also, the scale is not the be all end all: TAKE YOUR MEASUREMENTS!!
Maybe shoot for 140?0 -
My goal weight is 125 but unfortunately I'm underweight (from a medical condition). Not going to mention my current weight0
