They drank coffee with oil and whipping cream mixed in all day long. They mixed in so much oil that the coffee looked like an oil spill on the gulf. Lol!
When they ended up gaining weight they said that it must be muscle. This person never lifted or exercised at all. They considered daily tasks like walking to the water cooler or walking to the mailbox as exercise.
This person continues to believe that keto will solve all lifes problems and hasn't actually lost any weight yet.
Some people believe in the woo so strongly that they refuse to see the truth. They are blinded by the woo.

Making fun of other people just to feel better about your own superior dietary choices. If you won't say it to your friends face, what makes it okay to essentially talk about them behind their backs? I make a lot of choices that my friends may consider to be "woo", but they talk to me, they don't make fun of me on a public message board. I'd honestly be really upset if I found out that one of my friends was doing this.
What makes you assume people wouldn't say it to their friend's/relative's faces too? or that their friend's would be bothered by this, not everyone is that sensitive. If you or your friend's are that's fair enough, but I do think it's kind of funny to get offended on behalf of people you don't know.

Love this subject... I work with a woman who does "detoxes" every once in a while. She only drinks lemon water or something like that for about 3 days. She's miserable and when she done she's back to eating crap. I don't know if she loses weight or inches but she certainly doesn't have the best attitude while she is "detoxing". I've only known her a year and she's done this multiple times.
I want to ask why not just eat well and exercise? but, to each their own.

Besides we haven't mentioned any names. It's a message board, it's not like we are saying 100proof Jones from 124 main St in Sacramento is a woo lover. That would be against the rules.
Talking about ridiculous weight loss schemes is bringing light to a real issue that we see here everyday. Newcomers show up thinking that they must go low carb to lose weight or buy a multi level marketing product and that isn't true at all. Talking about it all lets these people see that buying into the woo is not needed.
If you buy into it, that's on you. Nobody can stop you but don't poo poo on others because we have chosen a more scientific approach .13 -

I stopped reading after "intestines as big as a football field". An American football field is ~100 meters from end to end, give or take, and we have about a meter and a half of large intestine and about six meters of small. So maybe the beings from whatever planet the original poster of this woo is from has 100 meters of intestines, but the average human? Not so much.5

I was also thinking this recipe might be nice as a sore throat relief tea on a cold day. I tend to get stomach bugs and not upper respiratory illnesses so I doubt I’d ever get to try it though.
JUST TO BE CLEAR- the person who posted this recipe and the ridiculous information was a self-proclaimed detox woo guru Facebook page. A friend of mine shared the post and that’s how I saw it.
Anyways back to the thread. I was chillin in the pool with some friends and a girl was telling me how weight watchers is so amazing. I said something along the lines of why not just count calories for free as the points are based off of calories anyway and the deficit is how you lose. She was so mad and said the points are not based on calories and are all about macro mix in order to give your body the most efficient foods that help your body lose weight! I asked if avocados have points since they are a fruit (the rest are 0) and she said yes because of the fat content. I said it’s because of the calorie content which happens to be driven by high fat. She changed the subject. I digressed5 -

Deep fried egg filled jalapenos could possibly have the same effect on many people. Or Haribo Sugarfree gummy bears....but I wouldn't recommend them, not a pleasant experience bases on Amazon reviews.4 -

Deep fried egg filled jalapenos could possibly have the same effect on many people. Or Haribo Sugarfree gummy bears....but I wouldn't recommend them, not a pleasant experience bases on Amazon reviews.
Anything fried does that for me. Or dairy. What ensues to my colon after eating these types of foods occurs, I’m usually down 2 pounds. Now that’s a detox...5 -

I just had a debate on WW site about calories. Seems a lot of members are getting into counting calories and points too. Anyway, someone said their nutritionist says to lose 2 lbs a week you must have 900 calories a day, and for 1 lb a week 1500 a day, based off of the 2000 calorie per day standard. I told them calorie level should be based off of height, weight, age, gender, activity level, basically stats. They said I'm wrong and my numbers are wrong because I eat too much soy. This person didn't know me from a hole in the ground and you can't post food diaries, so what the what?!10 -

I lost 25 pounds on WW last year. It was great. When I started to gain again after a foot injury, I rejoined, only to realize that the point system is all different now (fruit is now all zero points, etc.). I couldn’t get into it this time because they completely froze out carbs! I need carbs!
Anyway, thankfully I found this app. Lo and behold, I’m losing again, and still eating carbs — gasp! There are days when I need a cup of Cap’n Crunch, and I don’t want to feel bad about it!
Thank you for bringing focus to the nonsensical “cleanse” business. I’m so tired of hearing about this stuff and the “science” behind it!13 -

Nope. There's more of us out there than you think. One of my work colleagues always gets weirded out by how I eat my apples: skin, bones and all

It breaks my heart to watch someone I love and care about deeply try one "magic trick" after another to lose weight.
I don't know what they eat when outside of the house, but when home it is almost constant snacking and take-away. I am not slamming snack or take-away foods, but by the lack of weight loss, it would seem obvious that they are taking in more than they are burning off*.
Aside from making comments like, "I'm now the only overweight one here." they haven't asked for my advice. They know what I did and am doing still. The food scale is right there on the counter - they see me use it at every meal. They have talked to me while I was working out and/or logging my food into MFP. It is no big secret. I want to put my arms around them and hug them and tell them what the "magic" really is, but I am not the diet police and it is not my place to give unasked for advice.
*Even the other person here that dropped 50 lbs by eating nothing but snack foods and take-away, did so by eating very little of these foods and nothing else but these foods. Eating breakfast, lunch, and dinner with high calorie snack foods sprinkled in between was not what they did. Eating Doritos at lunch and nothing else throughout the day instead. No exercise either, but if you only drink diet soda and eat less than you need to survive each day, the weight will come off.

I do. The only thing I don't eat is the stem.
