I’m curious, did you really feel so much better after losing a lot of weight? I hear people say they have sooo much more energy and feel so much better physically. Is the change that drastic? Because the way I feel it’s so hard to believe that being over weight can cause all this but I really hope it’s all true! Thank you.

I've lost 28 kilos (think that's about 61.5 lbs). For me, the combination of quitting smoking and losing that weight has changed absolutely everything. I no longer have pain in my knees and hips that I thought was a form of arthritis but turned out to be just that they couldn't cope with the extra weight. I live in a hot climate and suffer a million times less due to the heat. I have a million times more energy and feel healthier in general. And I've taken up running, whereas before just walking for sustained periods was an effort.
I've also gone from being pretty lazy to really active. Before I got upset if I couldn't lounge about and read or something in my free time. Now I get ratty if I can't go somewhere, do something, get outside and enjoy life.
Another plus.... my 12 year old daughter and I now share clothes. The feeling I get every time I borrow something of hers and it fits is truly out of this world.
You know what the funniest thing is? I didn't even really see myself as particularly overweight or anything!!!!
I still eat cr@p too.... just that now I make myself earn it with exercise and make it fit into my calories.
Seriously..... best thing I ever did.

Before i weight 300 pounds, I took up walking and could only tolerate 10,000 steps per day after alot of purposeful effort and much difficulty, now, after 110 lbs lost I can crank out 26k steps at work, get off work, go do a 3 mile jog and end up with around 36k steps then I'm tired. I don't feel particularly hyper or energetic, just that I can last much longer than I used to.4 -

That’s amazing, thanks so much for sharing and congrats!!! Hope I stick this through.1 -
I lost a total of 70-80 pounds.
I am a completely different (better) person than I was as a 220 pound woman.
Everything is better - e v e r y t h i n g.
Keep going - it's worth it. I don't think you can really even imagine how much better life gets at a healthy weight until you do it. Make your decision then. You can always go back to over-weight. Quite easily, as it turns out.14 -
I lost 80+ pounds over 5 years ago. I'm a totally different, more improved person.
Waking up early to get my workout in gives me natural energy for the day and makes me want to make healthier food choices. I feel "light" on feet, I sleep so much better, I enjoy cooking my own food and trying new recipes, not to mention (for me) I really enjoy shopping for new clothes...this all just makes me feel really great. I could go on and on.
Seriously it's so worth it, so don't give up!7 -
Yep. I've lost over 200 lbs from my heaviest and feel like a different, happier, more energetic person.7
-
I've lost about 96 lbs and still losing, and I feel better physically but mentally i'm still the 300lbs+ girl. I notice I dont need to nap alot and walking doesnt make die. The best part is I dont go home and go straight to bed lol.6

106 and still losing. More energy, better posture, more confidence... And yes, a lot of it does come from getting fitter, but it's all interrelated.5
-
In addition to joint pain relief and more energy I've noticed a general feeling of well-being. Little things like the way it feels to cross your legs, the little glimpses of body shape/muscle definition, an "unpolluted" feeling from a cleaner diet all add up to that general feeling I guess.7

Who I was when I started this and who I am now are entirely different people. I feel so much better than when I was overweight. I can do more things, I enjoy getting out in the world and soaking up the sun, and I enjoy feeling like it doesn't take all of my energy just to get off the couch.
Everything is better. Everything.5 -
As of today’s WI, I’ve lost 112lbs. I’m still alive, likely wouldn’t be.
Weight loss is liberation6 -
Sure it's that drastic! Imagine trying to go about your day while having to haul around a 30-50-100-200 lb load strapped to your body. Well, you don't have to imagine it... you're feeling it now, and you're used to it, but boy, when it's gone, you will notice it!8
-
Wow, thanks so much everyone! It’s so wonderful to know that it will be that much better! Definitely gives me motivation to push forward3

I’ve lost 95 lbs. I feel AMAZING! Shopping is fun again! And I have so much more energy! Exercising is fun even!4

Started: Looking like TRex meets Doughboy meets the soft Michelin Man - not the lean muscled version today.
After I'd lost the excess weight moving down to 18 - 20% body fat, I then chose to relax for 3 years - on maintenance.- Emotionally: I'd felt vindicated for having successfully regained my real estate, defying the fearmongering.
- Spiritually: I'd committed myself to being more active - for having been a private worshipper to being more involved with my local church community.
- Socially: I've consciously chosen majority daytime outdoor active socials rather than the rigidities of the usual into the late hours soirees.
- Physically: Am me again and I'm loving it

I didn't notice an extreme difference in my energy level, tbh. However, I still really loved being slimmer for a variety of other reasons.3

80lbs here.
I'm now hyperactive , loads of energy, confidence. Love clothes shopping (hated it before) and generally like being outdoors4 -
I lost 28 kilograms. I didn't feel much different, with the following exceptions:
Previously my legs got sore after walking 30 minutes
Waking up without a sore back
I could run without feeling what felt like bags of fat sloshing around on my chest
I didn't have man-boobs, something I never liked
I didn't snore, didn't wake myself up by snoring, nor if I shared a bed with someone
Sex was easier, less fat in the way
I felt more attractive (well, I felt less unattractive)
I felt like I had achieved one of the hardest things in my life1 -

Me neither, losing 28 kilograms. But other reasons, see above post.0 -

I feel the same way, I'm still the 300 pound guy, lol.0 -
I've never been one to notice energy changes because mine feels stable unless I'm sick or haven't slept, so I didn't feel any difference in my energy losing 120 lbs. Then I regained a considerable amount of weight in a short time (nearly 30 lbs) and it was as if I was moving through molasses. The difference was startling. Apparently, I'm definitely more energetic when I'm thinner, I just don't feel it because it happens very gradually.
Health-wise, my blood sugar, cholesterol, and blood pressure all normalized and they used to be high. I also completely stopped snoring.
Physically, I have more aches and pains now than I did before. Ankles, knees, back, even shoulders. Being active can take a toll.
Mentally, zero difference. I was fine before, and I'm still fine now. Probably could use a little bit more fun now because I used to be a bit more fun loving. I didn't expect to see much difference in that department anyway, because I didn't hate myself back then and my weight wasn't causing me any problems that would affect my mental health.
Personality, not that different. I'm still as lazy as ever and I would choose relaxing over moving any time if there was no other impetus to move. I also still love food as much as I always have, so find myself choosing moving over relaxing several times a day.4 -
Very drastic difference! I lost 111 pounds over 5 years ago and I felt better than I ever had. Physically things were better but I think more of the change is mental - I felt better about myself therefore I wanted to do more.
I gained much of it back but restarted earlier this year. I'm down about 40 since January and again feeling the energy and confidence that comes with losing weight.7 -
I lost 154lbs last year. That for me took some work. Eating mostly good, sleep, water and exercise...good daily exercise.
Not only did it make me feel better and look better it changed the way I see so many things. My confidence is bursting and that makes so many things play out completely different. J was confident before but now...I love challenge and change.
Message me if I can help. I did it all by things above. No pills, no surgery, no low carb, no cleanses, etc. good old fashion way.
I am a changed person for sure.6 -
Wow, SO inspiring to me!!!!!2

So far I’ve lost 74lb.
Physically I feel much better. I no longer have pains in my feet, I don’t have aches/pains when I wake in the morning, I don’t get that horrible fat cramp ache/pain in the stomach anymore, I have more energy, I’ve started running and just feel so much better in myself.
Mentally, I feel in a much better place. I’m starting to feel like a person again. I have more confidence and feel so much happier.4 -
I’ve lost 111 pounds so far. I feel a lot better and can do things I couldn’t before. I’ve run 6 5ks! I do struggle with being able to see the new me at times though5

I often say that it feels as if gravity has so much less power over my life! I just feel more buoyant. I lost 130 pounds.8

I've never lost more than 30 lbs, which I did as a teenager before I developed any sort of significant health issues related to being overweight. As a result this was far more of a mental change than physical for me. I felt like I got better at just about everything, more confident, more comfortable in my own skin. I would argue a similar shift occurred after taking up weightlifting in 2015. I'm stronger and look better now than I would've ever guessed as that teenager and it's had an impact on my mental state of similar magnitude. I sleep better, I'm more capable of executing physical tasks, etc.4

101 lbs down from 350.
Energy levels came back to me over time but once I got rid of sugary cravings I found myself feeling perked up by getting out, or staying in and sweating. Cleaning. OMG cleaning. It became my favorite workout because lets face it... At 350, my house was not up to par..
Socially, waay more energy because going places and not being exhausted by the time I got out of the car! I can play with my kids now. And dance!
Losing weight has so many benefits, but its really helpful to look at it like a big ol dirty, greasy chili pot. If you want to clean it to a shine you gotta get the inside clean first.4 -
I have lost 130 lbs and boy oh boy what a difference. Energy levels up, hardly get a flu or cold anymore. No more asthma medication, no more antihistamines. Feel great, I need to have something to do all the time don't want to sit still where before 6-8 hrs on the couch watching tv was fine lol...6
