Hello MFP Teammates. I’m just starting a plan today to lose at LEAST 16 pounds by August 30th with a better fitness goal alongside. I’m not too familiar with the MFP community yet, but I’m throwing my towel in the ring today with a lot of optimism.

Welcome! Optimism is great, but you need realistic expectations too. So make sure you really have the necessary fat reserves to lose 2 pounds per week - or are comfortable with hairy goals - so you don't risk burnout and disappointment.

i hate the phrase 'nothing tastes as good ask skinny feels' (cos nutella... nothing tastes better than that!) but 'nothing tastes as good as fit feels' is just odd, i have run enough races to know that there are plenty of overweight people that are a lot fitter and faster than me...

    Why the deadline?

Also, I disagree. The great thing about exercise is that I can have my cake and eat it. Fitness doesn't have very much to do with what you eat; more the amount of work you do. I know a lot of people who eat whatever they want, and are exceptionally fit.

It has a lot to do with how much you eat however..... I did an nice aggressive cut at the beginning of the year ... I lost loads of my fitness. My endurance didnt tail off, I could still put the work in, but my overall power was well down, my functional threshold power dropped over 40w and its taken months to get it back up again.

so yeah .... drop the weight, it can improve performance .... drop the weight TOO quickly though and your body cant recover due to lack of kcals, you will lose muscle, you will be in a permanent depleted state.

Choose your goals wisely ... you can easily shed that weight in the time, but can you keep your fitness whilst doing it ???
