What is nutritional cleansing?3

It is designed to help remove potentially harmful toxins and impurities from the body. At the same time it is also feeding your body with the right balance of quality nutrients, herbs and botanicals to help it return to its natural balance. Targets visceral fat.34

The "detox" thing. Losing weight targets visceral fat. There are no magic foods, the only thing "detox" products make lighter is your wallet.3 -
In order to be detoxed you have to be 'toxed'. If we were loaded to the gills with heavy metals and poisons, pesticides, we would be very sick. It does sound similar to leaky guts. If our guts were truly leaking we would croak within hours from sepsis. There would be muscle spasms and difficulty breathing. No juice is going to fix all of that. You'd need a doctor to fix it and not a spa. If our digestive tract and other organs weren't working, we would turn yellow from the jaundice. Cleanses and colonics don't jumpstart our metabolisms.
Our organs naturally keep our pH balance under control around 7.35. Sometimes, we just have to clear the decks and cleanse our lives of imaginary thinking.8 -
Any naturally produced "detox" products have gone through exactly the same cycle of nature as anything else we consume on a daily basis. The same water was used, air, any pollutants swirl around in "dangerous clouds" around us. So the "detox" stuff which is a billion dollar / pound / euro industry gives us at least the same toxicity as anything else. If it's pharmaceuticals which aids in "detoxification" - that's what they call the "wonder pill", and that's a TRILLION dollar / pound / euro business. Just eat healthy, (whatever that means) do a bit of exercise and smell the roses around you....at least that's what I am trying for myself.4

The winking emoji is because I was also being sarcastic. I don't believe in detox woo or spot reducing.1 -
Good work on 2 years! You are 100% right on the lifestyle change vs diet. If that means detox for you then it is OK with me so long as you are OK with what works for me (platejoy.com, mindful eating). I think your detox critics should demonstrate their personal success in their profiles and share what is helping them along with their critical opinions. To be successful at this, we've got to have faith in ourselves, most of us need support from others, and a little juju usually doesn't hurt.9

Oh, I see. Sorry about that. I wish sarcasm had it's own font.
Although for anyone interested, I have this amazingly detox product I'm willing to sell for $49.99 a liter, it comes from my kitchen faucet. Works great!2 -

My personal success? I’ve lost 220 lb without giving up chocolate, cake, or anything else tasty.
Nutritional cleansing is a bunch of rubbish, but hey, if you want to live/eat like that, I’m not going to stop you. More cookies for me!7 -

I lost over 50lbs and improved all my health markers, including correcting a medical condition, by learning how CICO works and hitting the correct calorie deficit I needed, to lose the extra weight. I've now been maintaining the weight loss (current bmi is a 21.8) and excellent health markers (fasting glucose in the 80s, total cholesterol in the 160s, a good HDL to LDL ratio, great blood pressure, no longer have the medical condition or any other health ailments and I take no meds), for over 5 years now, which makes me one of the very few people who have maintained successfully (most fail and regain with 2 years). I'm also a participant of the NWCR and my data is being used in some of their studies.
And 'detoxing' is woo.
Also-the OP's 'Nutritional Cleansing' is an MLM gimmick and they're just spamming the boards11 -

I'm am down 175lbs eating at a deficit. I have never given up fast food, fried foods, cookies, or chips. I just eat them in moderation.
If I know I am going to have something that would normally put me over my calories, I just up my morning workouts and shuffle the rest of my day around to fit in the high calorie food.10 -
If only I had learned about the right detox to target my visceral fat 2 yrs ago, could have saved me the trouble of losing 105 lbs to reduce my waist by 14 inches instead....(using that non-existent sarcastic font here). Say No to juju.10

I have lost 65 pounds to a BMI of ~24, maintaining for 3 months so far. I regularly blow by the numbers for carbs and sugar, and while it is mostly fruit, I do eat a lot of added sugar. I get my protein and a little fat, some veggies and plenty of sweets. I paddle SUP and walk long distances and I am in the best shape I have been in for several years. No detox and no targeting visceral fat because its not possible to spot reduce without surgery.9 -
I lost 80 lbs, reached my goal weight, and have maintained it for over 2 years by eating whatever I feel like within my calorie limit.
"Nutritional cleansing" is BS.9 -
OP.. you look great..and happy you found what works for you. Welcome to the attacking nature of MFP forums.16

But she is promoting a load of rubbish. "Toxins in the body" is a truckload of woo and not helpful to people actually seeking a healthier relationship with their bodies.6 -
I agree that 'diets' don't work but lifestyle change does. Routinely eating appropriate portion sizes of balanced foods and moving a bit more for the rest of your days will lead to better health. No gimmicks or fancy names needed. Also an acceptance that life happens and cake needs to be eaten (or whatever); it is important to learn when to stop. It will not result in any toxic effects in your body that your organs cannot cope with (provided you are not allergic or ill).
Nice to read so many of you are maintaining well - inspiring for me as I move gently towards maintenance in anothe 10lbs or so.3 -
I think the key to losing weight is to eat moderate amount you can still eat amd enjoy what you like as long as you balamce it out1

MFP has a low tolerance for woo. And although the message may sound rough, the intent is good.
Signed,
someone who lost 50 pounds and has maintained that loss for close to 20 years, while still enjoying a life with sweets + salts2 -
Great you lost weight and changed your heating habits, but the cleansing thing is just non sense. So this post deserves a like and a woo at the same time.1
-
Good for you finding what works for you.
Not everyone is the same tho. My diet worked very well for me! 55 pounds down since April 2017, pretty much maintaining since January.
And, I like my lifestyle just fine, so I made the appropriate changes to my eating habits and exercise to keep this lifestyle as long as possible.
( And no, my diet was not sustainable, lol, that is why it was called a diet . Nothing wrong with a good diet as long as you pay attention to good nutrition and preserving muscle while in the diet AND keeping the lower weight maintained afterwards, imo! )

I go back and forth on whether to cal out woo when someone is being successful. It can be like the magic feather in Dumbo and help them lose the weight because they stick to the rest of it. OTOH, in a public forum the woo is being legitimized as part of the reason for success if no one points it out.1 -
