Sodium

People are saying my diet is high in sodium but the app seems to suggest I’m well under the line here... can someone tell me foods to watch out for with high sodium levels please??

Unless you have a pre-existing health condition like hypertension, there is no real reason to limit your Sodium intake.1

When you log your food, you should be able to see the sodium details for each item. That will help you identify where it is coming from.
If you're under the goal, I'm not sure why people are saying your diet is high in sodium.
Things like savory snack foods (think pretzels, chips), condiments, frozen dinners, processed meats, and canned soup sometimes tend to be high in sodium. If you're eating food with labels, it is easy to check before eating.0 -
OPs other thread is about not losing weight for a week. Someone commented that it was too much sodium....2

I mainly make up my own dinners really. Like an omelette with peppers onions and ham (perhaps ham is sodium high?) I don’t eat crisps, pretzels, frozen dinners.... I eat Heinz spaghetti or baked bean pots sometimes... is fruit high in sodium? I’m so confused right now. I have the occasional dollop of ketchup
I suppose! Most of my food doesn’t have labels as it’s fresh fruit / veg/ eggs - I’ll keep an eye out on my meat though0 -

Ham typically is a higher sodium food. You can check the details on your specific brand and figure out how much you're getting based on how much you are eating. Canned pasta and baked beans are typically higher in sodium as well. Fruit, no. Ketchup, yes (but with the amount most people are having, this isn't going to be an issue).
If you're under the goal, I wouldn't worry about it especially if you don't have any health conditions that require you to limit it. Why worry about things when you don't have to?1 -

Look at your diary...it will tell you where the sodium is coming from. Beyond that, if you're below the amount MFP gives you, you don't have a high sodium diet. Sodium is not the devil...it's actually a required electrolyte. I seriously don't understand why people get all worked up about it. I'd only worry about it if I was pounding the stuff, and I'm hypertensive.2
