I'm older and lose weight in a calorie deficit. Do you own a food scale?6

No but i do eat small portions and snack through out the day.

That doesn't mean you're in a deficit. Don't use age as an excuse! Get a food scale and log accurately.27 -

61 here, lost the weight I planned to during the past months and currently in maintenance. Not sure it was actually harder than when I was younger, but I can say I feel like I don't want to do it again, so I am still here weighing and measuring and logging and working out and being accountable to myself for my daily choices in maintenance. Beats regaining any day! -- plus I feel super healthy now

I'm 49, I started in Sept. 2017 and have lost 30 pounds, and that is including some bad weeks.
Is it hard? yes, but doable, don't let anyone tell you otherwise.8 -
I lost about 50 lbs after 40. Age is no excuse. Get a food scale and weigh your foods so you are accurately counting calories. I would bet your snacking all day takes you over calories.

Roxy, HERE is a two minute video review of the food scale I purchased. it is between $10-$12 and works great. The guy that made the review is a MFP user.
It is a nice food scale, you need to start weighing your food and logging the calories. Don't go by the 1/2 cup serving size, use grams when you can. A food scale will REALLY will make a difference. I am older than 40 and when I started weighing things by the gram the weight started to come off.1 -

Lost 50+ pounds at age 59-60; it was way simpler than I thought it would be. Sooo worthwhile, too.

When I was 40, it was not hard to lose weight. I started losing when I was 38. It was relatively difficult to understand how to lose weight without this magnificent web site we call mfp, but once I learned to log the truth it's been easy.8

I'm 41 (I'll be 42 next month), and so far I've lost 180lbs. I'm still losing. Age has nothing to do with the ability to lose weight.13

I started at age 53, lost over 70 pounds, and am in the best shape I've been in since I was 21. Age isn't an excuse.8

Sometimes it seems that way, but eventually you'll hit your stride, as long as you don't make it more difficult than it needs to be.3

I’m 41 and I’ve lost 225 lb.
Don’t make excuses for failing before you even get started! If you eat fewer calories than you expend, you will lose weight. And that’s entirely under your own control.15 -

Lost my weight in my 50's and it was easier not harder, tools for accountability like MyFitnessPal and food labelling made it much easier.
Really the first part of weight loss is getting your mind in gear and ditching excuses, you are responsible for what you put in your mouth.8 -
I’d say it’s easier at 40 ... when you are younger it’s all going out, fast food loads of beer etc etc
At 40, sure you move less with that desk job, but it’s so easy to control what you eat and drink ... ie no alcohol on a week day, cook your own food 95% of the time
What is harder is recover and building muscle6 -

Age has very little to do with losing weight. Becoming more comfortable and eating more as we age is common though. I lost 18kg at over 40, with untreated hashimotos without problems.1

This is the easiest I’ve ever lost weight, logging everything and eating at a deficit. I’m 62 and have lost over 30 pounds since the beginning of this year. Nope-age is not an excuse! You can do this, OP.5

I’m 27 and a single mother of a 9 month old I hear you! Haha I’ve been doing mommy and me work outs with charli and I’ve been dieting off and I’m trying to find one that I can work with and I’m trying the cabbage soup thing right now so fingers crossed! 🤞 good luck12

40 is the new 30, haven't you heard? Seriously, 40 is young and you can lose at any age. It's all about CICO, honest logging, and knowing that what's really hard is being overweight. You're so young yet that knowing this will change the entire course of your life.2

How about eating the foods you like, but just in appropriate amounts?
Seriously, forget the cabbage soup thing (and any other similar "thing"), and just weigh and log your food honestly here. It will work.13 -

Very true.
Partying at 25: 5000 calories in drinks followed by 2000 calories in drunk food
Partying at 40: maybe 2 glasses of wine at a dinner with friends and family. Total calories: 1000 (1300 if there's desserts & canapes).7 -

Strength/resistance train, build muscle mass. I'm in better shape at 40 than I was at 25. It's not easy, but it's doable.1

46 here - for me, the only hard part was getting started. CICO and consistent, accurate logging. I'm more than 60lbs down from my highest weight, all of it has been shifted post-40.1
