Hello
Can I get your opinions on collagen peptides. The good and bad. Was thinking of adding these in to see if they would help with some ongoing knee issues. Thank you in advance . Have a great day 😊

Examine.com has good resources for evaluating supplements. You'll want to compare their entry to the ingredients claimed on the supplement.

won't increase collagen in the human body...thats a myth. maybe collagen itself is good to take but has no effect on natural collagen production2

Thanks for the information everyone. Just as a personal update my old bones didn’t notice any difference .1

I SWEAR by it for my calf pain. My other half is a strength and conditioning coach/biomechanist for professional/semi-professional athletes. He's been using it on a couple of his athletes and he recommended I try it for my ongoing calf issues (over a year of tests and physio did nothing).
It settled mine right down, and whilst I still need to get to the root of the problem, it has helped with the pain and meant I can walk uphills again.
Side benefit: it's made my hair grow super long.

I don't think it does much for bones. My understanding was it's good for muscles and tendons.0 -
I’m so glad it worked for you ,
I was hoping it would help with some general aches and knee pain I have had.I did only use one container so maybe not long enough for me. It definitely didn’t hurt takin it.0 -

I personally noticed a difference pretty quickly, long before the end of my first tub. But some things don't work for everyone. For example, probiotics turn my tummy into a complete mess, but others swear by them.0 -

Actually, you are right on the money. Eating collagen won't increase collagen in the body. Increasing absorbable silica seems to help immensely, on the other hand. Recent research has determined this is a much better way to increase collagen. Biosil is a nutraceutical that is growing in popularity for that reason. There are great, edible sources of silica that are very absorbable to make collagen naturally in the body (and don't cost a thing). Green Beans are fantastic for it. So is non-alcoholic beer. If people had these things a couple of times a week, they could help their joints immensely. Not sure why non-alcoholic beer and not regular beer is so effective. I think it's to do with the process they use in removing the alcohol.
