Looking for a HRM

I've been wanting to purchase a heart rate monitor to track calories burned. I'm hoping for one under $120. So far I've been looking at the Polar FT4 and Polar FT7. Any recommendations on what model/brand that is reliable? I don't need anything too technical. Just something I can easily track calories burned and what zone I'm working in. Thanks.

Both of those are good - I have the FT7 and, quite honestly, would have been just as happy with the 4. I was under the impression that the 7 upgraded you to bluetooth (to connect with your smart phone)... it doesn't

If you run/bike/hike a lot there are some cool options with GPS built in. The Garmin 305 is a bit large, but a great buy and perfect for the bike.
  • I've been using the polar F7 for over a year and have found it easy to use and simple to program. The chestband is comfortable although with time I've found it harder to keep fresh smelling (good I guess with all the sweat) despite following cleaning recommendations. I am not as familiar with the F4, but believe the F7 has a few more things. I love mine so much, I just ordered a second one (different color) on amazon for $78 with free shipping and you may also want to review customer feedback there on both models to help you decide.

I can say I've tried another cheaper brand and it is sitting unused. I do highly recommend getting a polar, whether F4 or F7. Good luck!

I have the ft7, I think it stores more than the ft4, which I didn't really think was important, but I do like to be able to look back over the past 10 workouts. I love my hrm and highly recommend it :)
