What's your golden rule that you try not to break?

I heard once that if you wouldn't eat an apple then you're probably not hungry and it's become sort of a go to thing when I'm thinking of snacking - and I've bought apples
What's yours?

That's actually a good one, and I use it myself. I sometimes eat anyway though
I also have these:
I eat regularly, and only at meals, except on special occasion, which should be infrequent enough to continue to be special.
I eat anything I like, but not everything at once, and not all the time.
Food should taste good, but not too good.4 -
30 minutes 5 days a week - no excuses.6

Going to be pretty basic here but drinking my water. I even log it because I have noticed I am way hungrier on days when I don't drink enough water.7

To not make golden rules but just enjoy life. Feel like having a bag of crisps? (Black pepper haggis crisps FTW!)? Not working out? Having a drink? For me, it's all about moderation.18

never eat anything bigger than your head23

Related to weight control it's always log everything with no exceptions.
For life in general - I only need one rule. Don't be a dick.33 -
For weight loss, my absolute constant is to log everything that I eat and drink. No exceptions. Estimate the best I can for restaurant/social situations, no excuses.

Yep, understand that. If I notice I overdo things then I need to pay more attention. But a caipirinha on that warm day (not many of those here) or a bag of crisps once a month or so should be ok. As long as I'm not depressive I manage to keep my weight.3 -
I guess my rule is don't be dramatic and don't give up.
If I go over my calorie goal or the scale is up a pound it isn't realistic or helpful to say I am doomed and will never lose. One day is less important than what I do the rest of the week/month/year.6 -
I have a few golden rules that make it easier for me to succeed: drink a lot of water, log everything, weigh in weekly, don't take more than one day off from running/the gym unless you're injured or sick.
Some people feel constricted by rules, but they make life more manageable for me. I like routine, structure, boxes I can check off.8 -
Try and be within my calorie goal and as happy as possible doing it each day while accepting that one or both won't always happen.
This spawns many other rules but those can change depending on need.

Don't eat it if it's not worth the calories. No more eating ho-hum treats just because they're there. If I start eating something that has a disappointing calorie:enjoyment ratio, I either pawn it off on my husband or toss it.15

Don't drink my calories.
I can't eat it if I don't buy it.
I'm done with comic book movies.9 -
Don't piss off the wife is the only rule that I live by.23

If it's not natural I don't eat it... Processed foods make me sick!!23

My diet is in check so my only other kind of health related goal is that at 11pm whether I'm tired or not; I turn off all the lights and put my phone away so that I fall asleep. I used to be up till 3am regularly so this was a huge deal for me.6

Same. Drink the water, meet the active goals, log the food - makes things so simple for me.3
