Veggies so good but yet so bloating :/

I'm trying to eat more veggies but I'm constantly bloated and farting now.
It's pissing me off because now I don't want to eat anything at all because I don't want to be bloated and gassy.
Should I talk to a doctor or do you think it's just natural due to the veggies?
I've cut pastas and dairy. Barely any bread as well.

Are you eating a bunch of raw veg? Cooking them helps. Also, if you are going from very little to a lot of veg in a short time, it's likely to cause issues...best to ease into things.3

Many people find that when they up their fiber intake quickly, it results in discomfort like this.
If you've increased your fiber, cut back. Add back gradually and your body will adjust.
You can also experiment with types of vegetables (some people find that things like broccoli or cabbage are harder for them to digest than other types of vegetables) and different cooking methods (raw is often harder for people to digest than cooked).4 -
Try fermented veggies ... like sourkraut .. kimchi ... fermented carrots4

I think your body will adapt - it's usually best to ramp up veggies (or other high fiber foods) slowly. Eating probiotic foods (kefir, yogurt, kombucha, raw sauerkraut/kimchi, miso, etc.) might help with the adaptation. Make sure you're also eating enough fat, to ensure smooth digestive throughput. Limiting the types/cooking methods day by day for a while might help identify food sensitivities to particular ones, but I'm betting more on the adaptation idea. Your gut microbiome needs to adjust to handling the fiber; probably take a few days to a couple of weeks.2

This was my biggest issue transitioning to a higher fiber diet. I was literally in pain, even had acid reflux, which has never been an issue. I talked with a GI Dr. at work and he gave me a tip, like someone already mentioned, start slowly and work up to it. Our gut has billions of little bugs (mircobs) that actually digest our food for us. It takes several weeks and months for their numbers to multiply enough to fully process a higher fiber diet. In the mean time that means gas, bloating, acid and a lot of general discomfort. Your body will adapt and your gut will thank you in time.
Power to the FIBER!! 😉2 -
I had the same issue. Bean-O helped a lot! My body did get used to the extra fibre and I no longer need anything to prevent the gas & bloating.0

I eat about 1.5-2 lbs of veggies, not including starchy veg. My belly still bloats at times! Gas is well.. like death, I can't even blame it on the dog anymore! Strange though, my heart burn went away when I gave up the high fat diet.0 -
I think after a while your digestive system will get used to it and it'll get better. Beans are really tough on me lol. Although I think anyone who eats a lot of veggies will always fart a lot. Bean-o helps but you have to remember to take it WITH the offending foods, and not wait until you get gas from them.1
