Dollar to make you holla'!
Okay, moral question for ya'll just to see what you would do??
Walking along a path and find a bag with a large sum of money it, for the point of this question, we will say $25,000.00, what would you do? Would you turn it over to the authorities? Would you run as fast as you could with the bag and stash it somewhere? What would you do?

Honestly with that amount of money I would turn it in.
Not going to pretend to be some super honest person, just the reality of how much trouble simply taking it could lead to.0 -
at this point in my life..trying not to live on a ramen noodles diet...KEEP IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!0
-
Hmmm big dilemma...I suppose I would be tempted for 5 minutes with lots of things that I could do with it...but would have to go hand it over to the authorities cos I couldn`t live with myself otherwise...sad but true ;-)0

Turn it in. I'm just that kinda gal.
It would be a difficult choice, mind you...I AM human. But, I would always know it wasn't mine.
And that would always bug me.
Plus, I already have a laundry list of stuff God's gonna get me for. I don't need to be adding to it!0 -
Grab it.... hope like hell it's not drug money or some kidnapping payoff gone wrong that I just screwed up by picking it up and walking away with it. I would keep it!!!! I wouldn't spend it just sit on it for a while and wait and watch. If it showed up on one of the local news media's that a large sum was lost then I would turn it over. Let's face it.... if it was turned over and not claimed then the cops would just enjoy and they get enough of my taxes and a large portion of the city budget so I'm not contributing anymore than I have to. Did I mention I work for the city and with a few police officers. So I know how the money portion works : )0

I would turn it in.... Not because I wouldn't *want* to keep it. But because I'd be so paranoid that I'd get caught with it. I fear the man. *hangs head in shame* I'm such a goodie goodie..........
*giggles*0 -
The stray $20, of course we wouldn't turn in.
But $25,000? It would be LEGALLY crazy not to.
It could belong to:
1. A drug dealer
2. Part of a robbery -- marked bills
3. The entire life savings of a retiree
4. Tied to some other crime, embezzlement, prostitution, government employee gone bad.
Each has different implications.
Most every jurisdiction has finder's keeper's laws, you receipt it over to the authorities, if it's not claimed, within a certain period of time, then it's yours. Exact rules will vary. But if you try to spend "marked bills"...YOU may be implicated in the crime...with little proof. (Oh, Mr DA, I FOUND it...)0 -
Keep it. I got bills to pay too! Lol.0
-
What about if you just like took out half, you know for your troubles, after all, finder's keeper's, right?0
-
Id be running so fast, but I'd wait a while before spending any to make sure I'd get away with it lol0
-
finders keepers losers weepers......... I would keep it then donate some to clear my conscious.......I know I know but I'm honest0

There is ways to spend marked bills and not get caught, simple money laundering can be done at casinos and the such, by putting the bills in a machine, and cashing back out, just saying.0 -
I don't think I could keep it, as tempting as it may be it would just not feel right.0
-
I'd turn it in....why couldn't my momma have raised a girl with no guilt???
But I sure would skim off the top...20k..25k? It's all the same right???? :bigsmile:0 -
Bigt beaver:
Indeed you are right, but still I have a concious that would kill me!0 -

Agreed. That's a lotta cash. Could be trouble -- turn it in0 -
turn it in....I know it sounds stupid but I just couldn't keep it...I would get all paranoid and would end up freaking out! LOL!0

spend it a the strip club? no? lol0

As much as i need it, i would turn it in. I once found a decent sum of money at my old job at a department store and turned it in, no one ever claimed it and i was given the money in the end and i had a guilt free consience. I would hope that the person who lost it needed it more than i did.0

Right, if you put in a dancer's G'string, can't be bad then, i hear ya, but wear rubber gloves, for more then the obvious reason.0 -
Back in May there was a teenager in town in the news that found $2000 and turned it in to the police. They never found the owner, so the police because of a "new" policy kept it and put it in the general fund rather than return it to the finder.
I'd keep the money and scan the news for the next few weeks to see if there's any mention of a large sum of money missing. Maybe even go so far as to call the police department, anonymously of course, and ask them directly if someone has reported the money missing. Worse case I would call a lawyer and find out my options before just showing up at the police department.
Now if I kept it, when spending the money I would be very careful. I would never deposit it or spend it close to home, but that type of money would pay for a lot of groceries

After all, you're just putting some poor girl through college...that's very charitable, lol.0 -
