On these hot summer days, that's a good habit to struggle with. Moderation.4

I just crave something cold...I find different frozen fruit bars or I found a frozen yogurt that's really good-cherry chocolate chip. It's lower in cal than ice cream3

I'm a big ice cream fan, too! You could try out some of the low calorie, high protein varieties available - Halo Top, Enlightened, etc. The cost can be a bit of a deterrent to eating too much since they cost more than regular ice cream. I think both Halo Top and Enlightened make some good flavors (and some not so good flavors). I also like the plain vanilla version that Aldi sells (much better price). You could also buy some individually wrapped ice cream bars. I really like the Dove minis. Sometimes I have room to eat just one and other times I can eat five. I also sometimes buy the super tiny containers of real ice cream (like 1/2 cup serving size). My grocery store seems to have sales of ten containers for $10 regularly. I like having something sweet after I eat dinner, so I've found a way to incorporate ice cream into my meal plan.5

No sugar Popsicles, about 10 calories each.

start making 'fluff' and freeze it for a couple of hours - yummy...it's my 'must' these crazy hot days0

I'm a ice cream fan too. Its one of my downfalls. I shouldn't be eating it with my high cholesterol but i haven't mastered self control over it yet. I like the ideas here and i've tried to incorporate eating sugar free popsicles. Its a great alternative. I find that I don't eat ice cream if it I don't buy it! go figure!2

I'm an ice cream fan too, in the summer. We have a Dairy Queen located in a spot into town and it's a struggle. I've tried Halo Top and they do have some really good flavors. Mostly I just don't indulge, because I am not sure where it would stop and it's counter to my current goal. I started drinking iced coffee with some sugar free syrup, blended with ice in the blender.1

I love me my Halo Top0

Enlightened or Chilly Cow ice cream for dessert every night here.4

Anyone else freeze Chobani yogurts? So yummy! I scrape away and drive my husband crazy.0

It is okay to eat ice cream for as long as you only consume the right amount. I honestly prefer frozen yogurt.0

Mmmmmm ice cream!! Had to have some!! Recently I was talking about wanting to make some homemade ice cream. Naturally sweetened with our home grown berries. So for my birthday my family got me a 4 qt ice cream maker So delicious. Especially when topped with berry juice reduction. Way smoother than store bought and melts in the mouth like pure heavenly cream. Nom nom nom!!
100 gram serving = 178 calories, 9.3 grams net carbs, 10.7 grams fat, 7.5 grams protein

@PaulChasinDreams So...I'd totally be willing to leave my husband for you. Well, your ice-cream.3

Make it fit into your calorie budget.
Or try the Halo Top, Enlightened, or Bryers lower calorie options.
For me, in order to work, ALL foods in moderation, serving size accuracy and logging everything that I eat and drink.
Long term sustainability is my goal. Easier transition when achieving maintenance.

Equipment:
You NEED to have a powerful blender - like a Vitamix (I have a Ninja 'Professional' blender)
First - to make a chocolate/mocha one (my favorite):
1/8 cup of cold strong coffee into blender
1 tsp of vanilla/caramel extract and sweetener of choice ( I use Stevia)
2 TBSP. of dark cocoa powder (or more if you like)
Add 1/2 tray of ice - blender to break up. Add remaining ice cubes blend again.
Add another 1/2 tray of ice - blend.
Add 3/4 tsp. to 1 tsp. of Xanthum gum (keeps it less icy and really thickens it up.
Put in freezer for a few hours and then it's 'ready' - or just eat the fluff straight away (much more like ice cream though if you freeze it) Add whatever to make it yummy - berries, etc.,
Not bad for around 25-30 calories!
Here's the chocolate 'Fluff' before freezing it:
Here's a fruity version- after it's been frozen (used a sweetened powder drink mix instead of coffee)

Make your own sorbets and granitas.

If you don't have an ice cream maker you can either mash up the ice crystals frozen in a metal tray every 30 minutes with a fork for the approximately 3 hours needed to freeze. Or if that is too much trouble, freeze to a hard slush, then loosen it in the food processor or blender. Then transfer into a seal-able container and refreeze.0 -
i have ice cream almost every night

Surprisingly Fudgesicles are only 90 to 100 calories depending on the brand. Those work well for this ice-cream-a-holic.3
