Calories and genetics cause belly fat.
True, you also can't spot reduce fat0 -
If you want to get rid of it, do HIIT and eat cleaner, non-processed foods. (HIIT=High intensity Interval Training) You have to burn fat all over your body to make it go away.0

Pretty much. The fat on your stomach will eventually come off with over all body fat loss. Unfortunately though, you can't pick where your body decides to lose fat first and store fat last.0 -
cut down carbs. Fat is delicious and should not be feared (examples: avocado, coconut, EVOO)0

+1 - Our genes determine our body shape, food determines our body size. Carbs are good, but try to either burn them off or just eat as much as you need and not more as your body will convert unused carbs to fat to store for later.
Just try to eat a balanced diet (settle on a ratio of carbs, protein and fat that you can live with)0 -
watch out for refined sugars and processed food as well.0

Agree totally with both. If excercising could reduce spot fat people who chew gum would have skinny faces wouldn't they.0 -
Yeah..I figured that. I asked because since I stopped grazing on sweets, and eliminated diet soda...I noticed I'm smaller in the waist and belly now. My pants have more room in the waist area..and when I tried on my old corset..I had to unlace it in the back..and pull the laces tighter. So was it less carbs...or less fat that did it? I still have a ways to go...but I know I'm getting closer.0

Probably less calories. I've found that eating lower carbs makes it easier to eat lower calories. BUT eating more fat makes it easier to eat lower calories because fat feels me up and keeps me full much longer.0 -

Neither. You're eating fewer calories. And you're not getting the fizz from the soda that makes your belly bloat.
So, it's less carbon.0 -
nothing is bad if taken in balance n moderation, natural and unprocessed
good fat n complex carbs
CARDIO, CARDIO, CARDIO0 -

Carbs should not be feared either.
Just eat a well balanced diet within your calorie allowance and the tummy fat will eventually come off.0 -
Like all others are saying.. it's a combination of both. Cut out white breads, pastas and sugars. Eat complex carbs; brown rice, baked potato (watch the topping! try salsa), yams, etc. and lots of veggies. To get your sugar fix, eat natural whole fruit. And for fat cut out all junky fats, sour cream, milk, yogurt. Stick with nuts and seeds, avocado, olive/flax grapeseed oil, coconut oils, etc.
I started a dairy free/gluten free diet a year ago and I've never felt better. Try to live by this - if it grows from the ground - eat it. If it doesn't, leave it.
You'll notice a major decrease in (abdomen) fat and an increase in energy! Good luck!0 -

False. Excess CALORIES are converted to fat, regardless of where they come from. If you have to eat 1500 calories a day to maintain your weight, and you eat 1500 calories of just carbs, your body will not gain any body fat. If you eat 0 carbs and 1800 grams of protein, then those 300 excess protein calories will be converted to fat for storage.0 -
Thanks, Peeps!! I guess I'll just keep doin what I've been doin. Now, how bout those lottery numbers...lolol0
