I have to agree that I want something really delicious if I am going to spend the calories. Eating is not supposed to be punishment, but a thoughtful decision on choices. Even now, as I am still in the losing phase, I don't tell myself I can never have something, but I tell myself that I don't choose to right now. There will be time later to enjoy it. " And right now, I don't go about thinking of what I will eat "someday" when I lose the weight. I used to go to WW, and one of the things that turned me off were people sitting around talking about things that they miss eating and can't wait to eat once they lose the weight". I'm on an eating path right now that I am enjoying, but if comes to the time where I feel deprived, I'm going to seek out the best of what I am wanting and enjoy it.

reminds me of a recent 3 day meeting I was at with some co-workers, where I was not eating certain foods that are not part of my current WOE, and was getting "oh, that's right, you can't have that" comments. I was constantly correcting them to "it's not that I can't have it, it's that I choose not to have it."

    Liquids.

I like to chew my calories, so I drink only water and black coffee.

For the most part...Mayo. On occasion ill go to subway and i realized id add mayo and sweet onion sauce....sweet onion sauce was the taste and mayo was a texture...its make it more wet and swallowable and sort of bind the ingredients in a way i liked, but it really didnt add anything. And its stupid high in calories. If im spending those calories it should be on something with flavor like cesar or ranch or something. Or more toppings

What are some things you like, but wouldn’t eat/drink because the calories aren’t worth it for you?

    For me it’s
    1. Regular soda. I like diet soda so it would just be pointless
    2. Peanut butter. I’m not as obsessed with peanut butter as a lot of other people are so when I want it, I just eat PB2 for waaay less calories and it’s (almost) just as good to me
    3. High calorie salad dressing. Bolthouse farms makes really good salad dressing that’s 45 calories for 2 tablespoons

    1. A visit to a great casino buffet dinner.
    2. Liquid calories like non diet sodas, sport drinks, juices, etc.
    3. Foods with excess sugar in them. ( I limit and log my sugary treats).
    4. Cheesecake! Other high calorie desserts.
    5. High fat meats.
    6. Foods with trans fats.
    7. I try to limit high sodium/calorie foods. Salty foods are a trigger for me. I cant have things like high stadiums crackers, chips, etc. I cannot eat just one.

Foods I really don't like that much because then they certainly aren't worth the calories. For me, that is regular soft drink (soda), alcohol, bacon (anything from a pig actually), peanut butter... Foods that are really nice but high in calories are consumed occasionally, normally on special occasions. I just hate it though when that really nice looking piece of cake that you have been looking forward to really doesn't taste as good as you were hoping.

Same. Break room birthday - "you have to try this cake; it's amazing" - well, I can make some trade-offs for something special. Then it tastes like day old donuts that sat out all night. "Just remembered I need to be on a call; I'll just take this back to my desk..."

I can easily just eat 2 French fries and that is enough for me.

I also never eat bakery goodies with all that goopy, goopy frosting that grocery stores use. So gross! But for birthdays it is worth it to make good butter cream frosting from scratch.

I love this because I think like this all of the time

    1. Foods I don’t like.
    2. Full fat pop 100%
    3. Whole milk (it’s WAY too creamy)
    4. Chips, I’ll usually have beans instead
    5. Alcohol
    6. Biscuits

    1. Regular soda. I like the sugar free kind just as much so it’s a complete waste.
    2. Sweets, or for that matter most high calorie low/nutrition food. I love chocolate. So if I’m going to spend calories on something as a treat it better have chocolate in it.
    3. Low cal/ healthy versions of normal food. 459 Calories for a low cal Shepard’s pie which tastes gross is pointless when the normal delicious version is only 600 calories anyway. And why spend 90 calories on a ‘healthy’ brownie which taste like cardboard?! I’d rather just eat a small piece of a proper brownie.

I'm another one who would never drink my calories. All of the teeth rot with none of the satiety.

I spend calories for guacamole:) it’s worth it to me! Egg beaters, 100 calorie guac, and serving of smoked turkey breast we make! Such a filling breakfast.

Skip Cheese on sandwiches or in a salad. I can’t taste it really so it saves 100.

I definitely have to second the regular soda & high calorie salad dressing!

I hardly ever spend a lot of calories on beverages (probably less than 100 calories max) & usually only drink diet soda, water enhancers, & occasionally almond milk. I very rarely ever splurge on milkshakes since I feel more satisfied eating either a pint of lower calorie ice cream, making protein ice cream, or a few servings of regular ice cream.

If I like something I'll figure out how to work it into my macros. I used to love anything with sugar but the older I got the more sick it made me feel, so it wasn't really hard to give it up when I decided to switch to a healthier WOE.

I second the baked potato chips. I like them, they're fine, but the calories are WAY out of line for the taste satisfaction. If I'm going to spend that many calories, I'll take a regular potato chip.

I have more weight to lose than a lot of people on this board, so I have more calories to work with and right now I pretty much eat whatever I fancy, but this morning when I had granola I decided that it is definitely going to go when I have fewer calories to work with. I just don't like it enough to justify the caloric difference vs oatmeal.
