Finally! Almost 30 pounds down!

I had planned on making a post when I crossed over the 30 pound mark and into the 160's but when I saw my most recent picture (taken over the weekend) I really couldn't help but share. I actually started about 10 pounds heavier than I did in my before picture but as most do, I avoided the camera like the plague. The picture in the gray shirt was taken back in June and I've lost about 7 pounds since then. I'll update when I cross 30 with a current picture.

Goal 145
This has been a very long and slow process. I have a crazy slow metabolism from yo-yo diets and poor activity. I broke my foot in a spartan race 4 years ago and after 2 reconstructive surgeries with a lot of couch sitting, I found myself crossing 200 pounds for the first time in my life. I changed to a clean eating plan in March and it has been a wonderful transition. I have rheumatoid arthritis and went from having crippling arthritis flare ups to almost no flare ups. It has been a game changer for me. I do count calories but that's only because I tend to over eat. Even on the healthier things. My personal trainer says you can eat whatever you want and lose weight as long as you are under your calories. He says the problem is that if you don't eat the right foods, you won't get the nourishment you need and you start to feel bad. I had never approached it that way. This has been the longest I've stuck with it and the best I've felt since my 20's. So... Here's my before and after. I'm down to a size 12 from 16/18. If I can do this, anyone can. I loved diet mountain dew like one of my children and I haven't touched one since January 23rd. For me it's been a lifestyle change and one I don't for a second regret making. Nobody ever says, I wish I hadn't ate healthy today. Good luck on your journey!

I am 5' 4". I didn't think about adding my height! I am pretty proud of my accomplishments thus far. I don't have a desire to be super muscular but toning never hurt anybody! 60 pounds is super impressive! You can get there again. Just be patient and put one foot in front of the other!0

Yes i agree.. One foot at a time.. When i had lost the 60 lbs b4 i only had 2 children but now i have 4 all together and ill be 32 this year so i think it is getting harder to lose the weight every year i wait to start my journey of weight loss..0

Thanks everybody for the compliments. I'm pretty proud of my arms but unfortunately the rest of my body isn't catching up very quickly. lol A friend and I work out with a personal trainer 2 times a week. Mostly just using body weight to tone the full body. Unbelievable how well it works. We started in June and have been pretty faithful. Anybody can do it. I'm not a gym rat (as much as I'd love to be one) and I'm not eating 5 times a day or doing any crazy high protein diets. Just eating healthy foods that I like.1

Congratulations on your achievement! I’m curious you say you no longer drink diet Mountain Dew. I’ve heard different things all my life About diet drinks. I never used to drink water but now I drink 60 to 70 ounces/day. But I love my diet Coke and have 1 32 ounce a day. Sometimes I wonder if I’m stalling my progress I’m in my mid-50s and it definitely has gotten harder to Hit my weight goal.0

IDK about the age and weight.. But I know that a couple years ago I used mfp and drank diet Dr. Pepper the whole time and I still lost 60lbs.. Took me 8 months to drop the weight. First 30lbs just counted calories.. The 2nd 30lbs I started 15 min of cardio a day and 45 min weight training.. Hope this helps in some way0 -
I don’t feel like diet Mountain Dew excellerated or decelerated my progress. I just never drank water when it was an option. My dear friend has aspartame poisoning and it made me rethink the amount I was drinking. Literally a 2 liter per day on the weekend and almost as much thru the week. I had excessive heartburn so one day I decided to give it up. I was mean for a few days but after about a month I felt like a different person. It made me sluggish. I also believe I craved sweets more because nothing seemed to taste as good as it did with an ice cold diet dew. Best wishes on your journey!1
