1200-1400 calories and not losing weight

I started this new routine after months of slacking. I was at 147 and went up to 160. A month in and I’m not losing weight. I eat between 1200 and 1400 calories based on my workouts. I am 5’8.

Is this 1200 to 1400 range your net calorie intake after eating back exercise calories? There's a big difference between 1200 and 1400. At 1200 net calories, I would lose weight; at 1400, I would maintain. Given your stats, you should probably be losing at 1400 net calories per day, but it's not clear from your post why you have this variation.1

You are probably not eating just 1200-1400 cal/day.1

Hi check the fat grams in your food. Low calorie doesn't mean low fat. Also check sugar grams and try to eat foods under 5 grams of sugar per serving when you can.

Have you set MFP to lose 0.5lb per week?0

How are your workouts based on the calories you consume?
1) Get a food scale and weigh all your food. <-- very important.
2) Be careful about calories burned during exercise, it is difficult to accurately measure the calories that you burn.

Just curious why you think this has anything to do with losing weight. Thanks.7 -

Fat and sugar don't make you fat. Excess calories make you fat.- There are people here losing weight while doing Keto and eating @ 70% fat.
- I dropped a size in Costa Rico without even trying while eating high sugar tropical fruit all day long.

There are mistakes that people commonly make that cause them to not lose weight that we might be able to spot if you change your Diary Sharing settings to Public: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/diary_settings2 -
Its either your not eating as you planning or your gaining muscles weight because you said you workout
Also if your deit contains too much carbohydrates try to cut some with proteins and some healthy fats u will lose body fat easier13 -

Even in the small minority of cases where someone (typically some combination of very overweight/obese, in a small deficit, newbie lifter, and/or young male with lots of testosterone) manages to put on some muscle while in a calorie deficit, the additional muscle mass will not exceed the lost fat mass. Also if your deit contains too much carbohydrates try to cut some with proteins and some healthy fats u will lose body fat easier
To the extent that there is a tiny bit of truth in this because of the higher energy cost of processing protein (but not fat, so that would undercut the advice anyway), this is what MFPers like to call "majoring in the minors."
