As long as you account for calories, it doesn't matter. Dairy milk has more protein but many more calories too. If you're getting adequate protein, and just want something to make your smoothies with, almond milk is a low calorie option.6 -
For weight loss, it depends on which variety of almond milk. Some have as high of calories as nonfat milk, some are lower. Calorie content is what matters for weight loss. For health, it depends. If you have dairy/lactose issues, obviously almond milk would be better. Personally, I prefer nonfat cow's milk due to the protein content (8g per 8 oz) whereas almond milk is only 1 g per 8 oz. But, if sugar is a concern, cow's milk has 12 g of sugar where almond milk may vary and can have as little as 0 g if you get the unsweetened kind.

Unsweetened almond milk can be as low as 30 calories for 8 ounces, while skim milk will have 80. For some people, that's enough to consider a switch.1 -

Thanks. I realized this after I initially posted and edited.

Since my primary goal (after calories) is making sure to hit my protein intake goal every day, I'll always choose (skim) dairy milk over nut milk.
[ETA:] Absent intolerances/medical conditions, the question in the OP can't be answered without considering context and dosage within the overall diet.5 -
I drink cow's milk for the protein and calcium. Other than being a white liquid, almond milk doesn't compare in my mind so, for me, cow's milk is preferable.
As far as healthiness and helpfulness in weight loss, you can't really judge individual foods in a vacuum like that. Your diet as a whole is more important than any one food/drink.7 -
For a short time, my youngest had allergic reactions to dairy...it wasn't lactose intolerance, he'd just break out in hives everywhere. We did almond milk with him...I tried it a few times and disliked it. I don't drink milk all that often or use it very much for anything, so I just use regular old milk when I do. We use 1% in our house.0
-
I have unsweetened almond milk and 2% cows milk in my fridge right now. Depends on what I'm making/drinking on which I use. I account for the calories I use with either.7
-
I drink almond milk on low carbs and fairlife milk the rest.. especially chocolate milk3

Almond milk is basically flavored sometimes fortified water. It's a good alternative to milk for those who don't drink dairy or like the taste better.
You can't make a health judgment without specifying what exactly you're interested in. If we're talking nutrients, almond milk is almost water. Dairy milk has high-quality protein and a better micronutrient profile. If the health aspect you're interested in is lactose intolerance, then almond milk wins hands down.
As for weight loss, the milk that you like is the best milk for weight loss. It may be one or the other, or both in different applications. Weight loss is only impacted by the calories you consume, not by the types of food you eat.
Personally, I don't like almond milk because it tastes too watery to me even with thickeners. It just has this watery aftertaste. Out of nut milks I prefer cashew milk, but I like dairy milk best so that's what I drink.1 -
I second the fairlife.it has half the sugar of regular milk for my diabetic husband. I got tired of throwing out a half a carton of almond milk every other week cause i dont use much and he wont drink it.1

Fairlife milk is all we use too. Nonfat for drinking, whole for coffee creamer.0

I like sweetened (60 cal per 8 oz) almond milk better over cereal and believe it or not with Ovaltine. I like 2% better in a mostly fruit smoothie. I really don't care for skim, but unsweetened almond milk still tastes pretty good to me. I use whichever I prefer as part of an overall set of choices that gives me good nutrition and the right calories count; I don't consider either healthier. If you had to survive on nothing but one of the two then obviously dairy wins. I am not faced with that...1

They have different nutrition profiles. Almond milk has more calcium; skim milk has more protein. Drink two cups of almond milk instead of one cup skim milk and you’ve cancelled the calorie advantage.
I had an almond allergy that seems to have calmed down. So I reach for the dairy.
I digest yogurt a lot better than milk. But that’s just me.0 -

Its such a good tasting nonfat milk! Get mine at walmart.1 -
When I want creamier milk (like for hot chocolate) I add half a portion of nonfat powdered milk. The result is very creamy (like a 5% milk), has the calories of 2% milk, and the protein of 1.5 cups (about 13 grams). That's DIY Fairlife for you if you don't have access to it and don't care much about sugar.1

Unsweetened almond milk generally has fewer calories than fat free cow milk, cup for cup. Just make sure that you're getting the UNsweetened variety.1
-
I use both,,if I'm making a protein shake I tend to use the almond milk,everything else I use Fairlife0

Keep in mind that the calcium in almond milk varies quite a lot because none of it is natural, so it depends on how much (if any) your favored brand uses in their vitamin/mineral mix.

In addition to that, the naturally occurring calcium in milk has a good bioavailability, so you can't compare unless you know exactly the type of calcium added to almond milk because your body can only benefit from certain percentages depending on the type.3 -
Unsweetened almond milk is very low calorie. But I just prefer cow milk.1
