KETO program - what I am learning

Well I just learned a really good lesson on why we should log our food/macros. Not only am i consuming more calories than I should be - when put into black and white - it is easier to see how I could make better, healthier choices.

I have been eating KETO since middle of September and I have lost a total of 17-20 lbs. I say this because 3 lbs fluctuates from week to week and has since November. I lost the most weight immediately - some of the reasons could be the water weight loss from initial detox-calorie restriction. Some of it could be that it was the only time I actually followed a "meal plan".

What I have learned on my journey so far:
1. My weightloss cannot be compared to anyone else.
2. Do not get on the scale everyday - the scale is not your only or best measurement of success.
3. Take pictures - you will see results and it can help your motivation
4. Take measurements - I did not do this and wish I had.
5. Eat your veggies - I need to try and add them in with a good healthy fat. My body needs more fiber.
6. Get more active - I don't need to go extreme - just get out and walk with a purpose - DAILY!
7. Follow a meal plan - make modifications if necessary but try and stick to one as close as I can.
8. LOG MY MEALS! Maybe not daily, especially if following a meal plan but once or twice a week to stay on track. It will help me to determine if I need to cut back on certain types of food or maybe try cutting them out (i.e. dairy) to see what works for ME
9. Intermittent fasting is a fantastic tool - use it!
10. DO NOT GIVE UP!!!!! Just because I am not losing as much weight as the next person or as fast, there are changes going on that I may not see at first. Healing happens on the inside and I may have needed more healing than the coworker/friend/relative that lost 20lbs the first week and 100lbs in 6 months. It may take me two years to achieve what others achieve in one but as long as I don't give up - I will get the results in the end.

Thank you for this. I just started Keto one week ago. I am already seeing results but I'm scared I won't get motivated if I don't continue to drop the weight. That's my biggest problem, if one week I don't loose I give up.

You really have to get over that. It's perfectly normal to not lose weight on the scale every week. Your body has other stuff in it than fat, and that stuff fluctuates up and down all the time, which shows up on the scale. Especially water weight - it can go up or down several pounds overnight! You're looking for the trend over time, not just one week to the next. The only way to guarantee you won't ever lose weight is to give up - so don't do that

In the beginning with all the water weight loss you have an oh hell yeah attitude. Then it slows down but be patient. There is more than just weight loss going on. My wife loss a few pounds but was getting disappointed until she pick up some shorts that were to thight to wear and they were lose. I gained four pounds on a quick weekend get away probably due to being trapped in a airport for hours twice. I have lost half that back but the weird thing is my body fat % measured by my scale keeps dropping. I started keto at 25% BF and this morning I am 19% BF.

Unfortunately i can almost guarantee that you WONT lose weight every week. Weight loss isnt linear...
