Do grilled cheese and normal cheese without grilled contain the same amount of calories?

This may sound like a stupid question lol. I mean sometimes the oil comes out of it after it’s being grilled so this makes me wonder.

Can you clarify your question? Are you asking about the difference in calories in a grilled cheese sandwich compared to a cold cheese sandwich?0

The difference would be a few calories if it was even measurable. Don't overthink this! And no such thing as a stupid question5 -

Same answer Well below the noise threshold. A drop or two of oil is really negligible in the grand scheme of things and won't affect your weight loss one way or another.5 -

This sounds like wishful thinking to me. Even though some moisture—oil as well as water—might run off your melted cheese as it’s converted from a solid to liquid state, that’s only a small proportion of the calories in the cheese, plus the bread will absorb a lot of that oil. I expect any calorie change would be minimal at best, and I would therefore just log the weight of the cheese before cooking.5

I agree with some of the above. Don't worry about such minute things. All calorie values are wild estimates anyway. Just track your cheese as it's listed on the package.5

Calories in food are hardly "wild estimates". Calorie counts are established by a regulated process.8 -
a slice of cheese is about 80-100 calories a slice depending on brand and weight.now if you add bread and butter or whatever it is you use to grill it then yes it will add calories but if you add bread and butter or another condiment and dont grill it,its going to be close to the same amount of calories. unless you just eat the cheese alone.then high ho the dairy O the cheese stand alone(hahahahaha)5

I looked up 244 g melted cheddar cheese and 244 g unmelted cheddar cheese on nutritionix and the calorie information was the same.
I have never logged melted cheese as being lower calorie. I would not bother.1 -
Any difference is going to be due to the oil/butter used on the outside when grilling the sandwich, which (depending on how much you use, and how much of it the bread absorbs) could be a substantial difference in calories.
The fact that a little oil may come out of the cheese when you heat it - that part makes very little difference. If you pat some of that oil off, it will reduce the fat you eat a tiny bit but (1) not very much, (2) you can't possibly estimate it accurately, (3) you need to eat some fats anyway for good health (especially as a woman) because your body needs fats and can't manufacture what it needs from other foods. (It can be worth patting some oil off something like a super greasy burger or pizza, unless the oiliness is part of what makes you enjoy it.)
Don't worry about it with a sandwich, except considering what you may be adding in the grilling process. If it's a restaurant, I'd probably log a teaspoon of oil for something grilled without much oil/butter and not noticeably oily on the surface (like some pannini) up to a tablespoon or more for one grilled on a flat grill surface/pan that seems very buttery/oily.
Don't obsess about it. It's not worth stressing - stress burns no extra calories - just log as accurately as you can estimate, and go on with life. Sometimes you'll guess under, sometimes you'll guess over; as long as you try not to underestimate, it's likely to even out in the long run.5 -
Got to agree with most of the folks here. That being said I can see why you asked especially if it's Mexican cheese you are frying and eating straight up.
I would look around and see if there is anything online.
Ground beef has different calorie values depending on how its prepared.
Of course 75/25 ground beef puts out a measurable quantity of fat.
And there are some vegetables which have different calorie counts when drained.
If you are eating a lot of something it might be worth your while to investigate more.
I myself eat a lot(almost everyday) of ground chuck prepared in a certain way and I use a lower calorie count for it that I found on the USDA website.
My thoughts are that cheese like oil has a set number of calories pretty much the same for all varieties with maybe the exception of swiss cheese.
They just change the portion to change the calories listed.
An ounce of cheddar is 100 calories and often you will see it listed as 70 but the portion is reduced from 28 grams to 21 grams.

I would think the grilled cheese would be more calories. If you're talking about the sandwich there's also the bread.3 -
