I've not even had a 'real' banana pudding, so I'll try a 'real/southern' one with the vanilla wafers

    Graham crackers
    or
    Digestive cookies

If those candies are the ones I’m thinking of, they’ve been around a very long time, small, hard, gummy type squares that can take out a filling or tooth or dislocate your jaw in a nanosecond. We called them jujubes (ju-ju-bes). Haven’t seen those in decades! :s

I was thinking of the ones we might have had when we were kids...my brother loved them - not like the ones you described...I remember them being super chewy, but not 'hard' per say...: 8amak88hay5f.png

Dots are good too! Soft and chewy. Both Dots and JujiFruits are waaay bigger than the little square-ish Jujubes.
