I was thinking of the ones we might have had when we were kids...my brother loved them - not like the ones you described...I remember them being super chewy, but not 'hard' per say...:

Dots are good too! Soft and chewy. Both Dots and JujiFruits are waaay bigger than the little square-ish Jujubes.
