    The Lamb & The Lion

A docile lamb with pure white wool
Sadly misplaced in a world so cruel
A beastly lion sporting mane of power
Presence capable of making one cower

By nature, the lamb was lion’s feast
Considered a meal by this heartless beast
But a new way to live, by lamb, he was led
Now instead of his stomach, his heart was fed

An unlikely duo, these two were paired
A set of hearts, though one was shared
In their veins coursed burning passion
A love so strong, of potent fashion

Until one day the mighty lion, he broke
Of ravenous hunger, his stomach spoke
He struck the lamb with a callused blow
This sweet lamb’s heart tossed to and fro

Snow white wool now stained with red
This wincing creature was nearly dead
Frightened by what he saw in her eyes
Realized he caused lamb’s fading cries

Hope was the death of a lamb so sweet
Thought his carnivorous ways were beat
Surrendered her heart so he could see
But a ravenous lion is all he’ll ever be 🦁

A beautiful vessel with milky white sails
Wood gleaming, ready for future travails
She slowly and cautiously moves out to sea
With faith as her anchor, her compass belief

The waves reach to meet her, so playful and free
The dolphins leap out as she gathers up speed
The wind in her sails fill her innocent senses
But the anchor weighs down, holds her back as it tenses

She wants to experience the joy she can witness
To share in the freedom and test out her fitness
She cuts lose the anchor and abandons the rudder
Lets the wind take her and fill her with wonder.

But the weather turns dark and the wind picks up speed
Lightning strikes quick but the storm soon will leave
She's lost her direction and aimlessly drifts
The wind in her sails drags her where it sees fit

Storm after storm hits the weathering ship
Changeable winds cause her sails to rip
Battered and broken she's ready to sink
Till she spies the compass catch the sun in a blink

She lets down the anchor and studies the stars
She is way off her course and land is so far
With faith keeping steady, she repairs what she can
And she sets out again toward the rising Son

out of all the words we ever said,
there was one we never said.

    it is better,
    this way
    the only way.

    I suppose.
    don't you?
