Starting over

Options
10 years ago I lost 80 pounds.
I made a move and changed jobs.
I no longer walked to work and the only place to eat was the cafeteria.
They had great food but it was loaded with fat and calories.
They made a shrimp fettuccine that had a total of over 2000 calories per serving and they always served more than 1 serving.
Needless to say I gained back all the weight I had lost plus 30 pounds.
Fast forward to last week and I'm at 288 pounds and I have had enough.
288 is not my highest weight but where I'm starting from now.
I am on a modified Keto, I don't eat as much fat as suggested.
I figure the extra fat is just calories I don't really need.
Very limited carbs, no sugar, no beer, and most of all no ice cream.
I am also riding my stationary bike 30 minutes in the morning and sometimes 30 minutes in the evening.
Going well so far.
I have lost 8 pounds in 5 days, I know most of it is water but I'll take what ever success I can get.
I'm not hungry or feeling deprived.
I am a 65 year old man and I would like to live longer than the other guys in my family.
Thanks for hearing me out.

Hi! Sounds like you have a plan. I don't do Keto, but I am T2 diabetic so I try to keep my carbs somewhere around 75-80g of carbs a day. I too, have a stationary bike I just got and try to do an hour at least 3 times a week. I lost 50 pounds here back in 2012 but gained back 20 so I am back to get that 20 off as well as another 10. I am 64 and don't want to go back to where I was so heavy I was having knee and back problems. Welcome to MFP!
