Highly recommend starting there. I've been on keto since April but took the last two months off which was silly cuz I love howbketo makes me feel.
I also recommend looking up Keto Flu cuz that's real and I used ketones to help me through it!!2 -
I'd think you'd build your grocery list from what you want to cook and eat?3

@jodiokun having done keto continuous since Oct 2014 I found there is only one place that I could start after several failed attempts.
Start by eating around 50 grams max of carbs daily for 30 days. The other 10,000 things you read about will most likely only be about 10 of them that will be important to your success. I have found the advice from non successful keto dieters to be dangerous in my own experience.
It turned out to be very simple yet the hardest thing I have ever done to improve my quality of life period. I failed many times the first 60 days until I came to realize carbs controlled me and not the other way around.
Well this understanding ticked me off so the first of Oct 2014 I stopped eating all food containing added sugar and or any form of any grain at the age of 63. I was at the point I needed help getting in and out of cars and was using powered carts when shopping. The name on my type of arthritis I am told is Ankylosing Spondylitis and that was back in 1976.
Now four years later at the age of 67 my health is greatly improved eating to stay in a state of Nutritional Ketosis. While the damage from the lifetime of arthritis is recovering to a very small degree I have been relatively free of the past 3 years and I was able to avoid starting on Enbrel injections as planned for Nov 2014 because my pain dropped by about 60% in the first 30 days.
While I did not try to lose any weight I did drop down from 250 to just under 200 pounds the first year of this WOE and have maintained that loss for the past 3 years without thought to how much food I eat because I never go hungry since I eat all that I want when I want it. My lifetime of binging stopped after the first 30 days of eating this way.
It was six months in when I realized my decades of IBS had left and has yet to return on this Way Of Eating that I found. I am currently working to restoring a 70 year old tractor in free time like the one I played on when I was 3 years old and started driving when I was 5 with my dad nearby and when solo at the age of 7 hauling my mom and younger sister and brother to the tobacco patch while dad was at work at a local sawmill. It is a 1948 Model B Allis Chalmers and I just got the crankshaft and engine head back from the machine shop 2 days ago.
I am the only one of four in our house that eats this way so one does not have to get rid off all the carbs in the house and I eat out twice most days. Now that I am eating for a better life and it has worked so well I have no desire for another WOE. There are many ways to do Keto/LCHF way of eating.
This is just my experience and I am old enough to know to not to tell others how to eat. There is NO one WOE that works for everyone in the world. As you work your way forward your health will start to tell you what it needs and what to stop eating. There is not another human being that can do that for you.
Best of success of limiting carbs to 50 grams daily for at least 30 days.
Trying Keto is a waste of time because it is not doable 100% of the time if we try to skip this first requirement. It was a hellish two weeks around my house in OCT 2014 when I had to leave carbs cold turkey after tapering never worked out in my case.
Keep in mind low carb is considered to be any WOE where one eats less than 150 grams of carbs daily.

diet doctor is good. I also really liked https://www.ruled.me/ because they explain each step clearly. There are a few good youtube videos, but a lot of them seemed junky (to me).
Starting out, avoid keto flu by drinking lots of water. Sprinkle a dash of regular salt, a dash of Morton's blue salt, and a squirt of lemon juice into each big water glass. The only supplement I found I needed was magnesium malate pills (1/day).
I've had such great results in so many areas on keto with no cravings for carby things I used to love that my husband and adult son are all on keto now and loving it too. My teen is still a carbage disposal.
@GaleHawkins It is wonderful to hear your experience as a long-term keto-er. I'm going on 5 months and this is my new way of life as well. It has done wonders for my autoimmune disorder and pain. I wish you all the best.2 -
