Using weight loss drugs

Hi there. I've been losing weight steadily over the past 2.5 months by counting calories. I am also taking 15mgs of Duromine 5 days a week with a break now and then. Please dont bombard this post with negative effects of the drug I made an informed decision to take it. I was wondering if anyone else is taking it too and how is it working for you. Or have you taken it stopped and rebounded?

There are many posts on Phentermine (which is essentially what this is) including this one which was still running active yesterday

Phentermine plus fenfluramine (phen/fen) worked marvelously for me, but once fenfluramine was withdrawn from the market I didn't get the same results from phentermine alone or with some drugs that were supposed to be similar to fenfluramine. Plus the whole fenfluramine being withdrawn from the market due to damaging hearts soured me on the whole diet pill thing.

I didn't learn healthy eating habits when my appetite was artificially suppressed by taking a legal amphetamine-like drug and I gained all the weight back when I stopped taking it. And now I am on medication for heart palpitations.
Here's my new favorite post about Phentermine: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10329901/phentermine/p1itschanelle wrote: »I have seen a lot of posts on and off about this and other weight loss drugs. I can vouch that they absolutely work. I have lost a lot weight using Phentermine on and off throughout about a 10 year span.
BUT...
The weight doesn't stay off. And those side effects? They are real.
You could take Phentermine and lose the weight, but you might end up like me. I'm 30 years old, slightly over weight, and have moderate tricuspid valve regurgitation. As in, I might need open heart surgery because my heart was damaged by Phentermine. To be clear, I never took it for more than a few months at a time, was monitored by a doctor, and did everything "right".
My lifespan has likely been shortened to lose a few pounds. Weight I could have lost on my own with a little bit of gumption. It wasn't worth it.23 -
It’s not worth it. I have a friend who blew out a heart valve and now is sporting a pig valve. She was 55 at the time and a spin instructor. Being in good physical shape probably saved her life. But her life will never be the same.11

That's the post I started. You'll find a lot of helpful replies there, along with a few know it all critics. I made it clear in the title that critics weren't welcome so they mostly stayed away.
I take Phentermine too. For me it really helps. But as you said, being aware of what you eat by logging your calories is what's doing the most. Does it curb your appetite still? I think I am on the placebo effect now. I've been taking it for almost six months. It might curb my appetite but it doesn't seem like it. The biggest things that help me lose weight is logging my calories here and not drinking wine.

MKEgal, who is a buddy of mine here, said it perfectly on another thread.
"I've used phentermine, until it reset my hunger to (what my doctor tells me is) a normal level,
and I got used to eating normal-sized portions.
No problems of any kind.
And if I could have simply used willpower to overcome the hunger, i would have done it long ago.
I don't know of many people who would tell someone suffering from constant pain that they should just
think themselves pain-free, or suck it up & deal with the pain, because using tylenol or morphine means
they're weak... but that's exactly what most people do when the discussion turns to appetite suppressants
&/or antidepressants. Hunger is a type of pain. Depression causes all sorts of pains."

Thanks for that I appreciate that view. I have just had 10 days off just for a break and still lost and had no side affects at all. I have adjusted my food as well and am less hungry with or without it. Thanks again 😁2

Ideally to prevent tachyphylaxis/tolerance, best utilized 4 weeks on, then 4 weeks off (hammer down diet, kcal counting activity during this time). It won't be very helpful if you don't put in the commitment to making lifestyle changes; more of an aid in transitioning
Alternative cardiovascular system friendly drug = liraglutide (SAXENDA) - injectable drug, might be pricey still with insurance (check formulary). Yet another low impact cardiovascular med is Orlistat...generally not well tolerated (oily stool if consuming excessive dietary fat whilst taking...as punishment of course; joking, really due to drug's mechanism of action)1 -
Thankyou my last pack of 30 lasted me more than a month so I'm taking it easy. Yes I have totally changed my outlook on food and I really think I can do this. Thanks for your advice0
