Intermittent fasting is the best decision I made.

But are you a dental hygienist though? Work at subway?0

That's awesome, congrats on the success!1

.... I've been known to fast for up to 15 minutes at a time.8

Honestly take a look at the science! I was unsure at first but a few of my friends started and they love it so I thought why not!
I started at 16:8 and now I’m doing usually 20:4.
You basically eat your day of calories in a shorter period of time, so you’re not starving yourself like some people seem to think when they hear fasting!
My times were eating from noon until 8 when I first started, and only having water from 8pm until 11:59 or a bit later. You can have black coffee or water during your fasting period, nothing that would spike your insulin or contain calories.

To be fair most people don’t return to their posts, so it was intentionally irrelevant. Props for returning to your post! 😅1 -
Ive dowloaded the Zero app and played around with it. What do you eat during your eating period - super healthy?0
-
I did it for a month when I was feeling like I needed a challenge, a change...and I loved how it worked around my busy schedule. Mornings are my busiest so I started my eating at 12 pm and it ended at 8. I don't think this is a long solution to weight loss but as a start up to get the weight off is good imo.6
-
I've actually tried it as well.
Eating only from 10am to 5pm.
It's true that you really don't get hungry with this approach.
I would only drink black coffee in the morning and only water after 5pm.
I don't know if I lost weight or not. .... that wasn't my goal; I just felt better.0 -
I can’t seem to catch a good rhythm with it0
-
I've alway done this kinda naturally. I only eat when I'm hungry and don't eat "just because it's a 'meal time'". I'm not a morning person and am almost never hungry before early to mid afternoon afternoon.
I also don't like feeling 'full' during the day, it makes me lazy.
I typically have a meal replacement shake and a few almonds mid day (3-4 ish), then dinner at 8-9, and often something before bed ~12 (weekdays) weekends shift all this a few hours later.
As far as results, I can't comment, I haven't consciously been doing it for any reason rather than personal preference.1 -

I try to! But I had a small bag of chips today because I wanted them. I find that if I don’t let myself have something when I have the calories for it then I just want to binge later. It’s all about moderation.R3d_butt3rfly wrote: »I did it for a month when I was feeling like I needed a challenge, a change...and I loved how it worked around my busy schedule. I’m a member of some groups on FB and some people have lost like 100 pounds doing it, and they manage to maintain that weight loss by doing it, they’ve made it a lifestyle change. I only had about 20lbs to lose so it’s something that’s definitely helping to shock my body into letting go of some baby weight.I can’t seem to catch a good rhythm with it
I don’t think it works for everyone, but what makes it pretty easy for most people is that you can play with the hours and find out what works for you.Motorsheen wrote: »I've actually tried it as well.

I find that the weight loss I’ve experienced is a great benefit but I’m also enjoying how clear my head feels and just not feeling sluggish! I find I have so much more energy for other things because my body isn’t stuck digesting constantly. I even sleep better!

Congrats OP! I eat this way naturally. It helps me to maintain my weight my and it keeps me lean year round.
I eat 3 mid to larger meals everyday with no snacks and I'm never hungry.6 -
me too, i love it!!!!!! 21 lbs down (so far)2
-
I just started this on Monday. I have fair bit to lose (about 80 - 85 pounds) so I though thjis would be the best way for me to achieve it. I am fasting from 8pm til 12pm to following day and I am finding it really easy to fit this into my lifestyle. I also changed out my 2 morning Lattes with 2 sugars, for Long Blacks with no sugar and I walk about 4.7 Kms (3 miles) every lunch time.
Not 100% sure how much I lost becuase my usual scales arent available but its somewhere in the vicinity of 11 and 15 lbs which is a huge boost to my momentum.
Looking forward to continuing on this path!!2 -
Huh. My IF must be broken... I'm still gaining.3
-
Congratulations to both of you!
I track my weight daily but my inches once a week so I’m anxious for Sunday to come to recheck my measurements 😍2 -

Not sure if you’re aware of it but there’s an IF group on MFP.0
-
Been doing IF since spring and love it. Even if I have days where I slack off and eat from morning until bedtime..I always go back to it. I have lost 26 lbs in 4.5 months. I generally do an 18:6 but certain days like today where it is my rest day from exercise I am doing a 16:8 so having breakfast just having it mid morning.1
-
Sorry OP but that has nothing to do with IF. You probably just dropped a bunch of water weight (although IF does make it easier to stick to your calories).1
-
I've tried it but found my family life is too hectic and we don't end up eating at the same time. For example, one night we might have an early dinner before my daughter's volleyball game, the other night I may not be able to eat dinner until 9:30 or later. Did you play around with the 8 hour window before settling on a workable one?0

You need to take a look at the science. I’m now down to 133.2, and it’s been 3 weeks. I had been sitting at a plateau. If you think that I lost 5.2 lbs of water weight, AND all the inches I lost because of water weight, you’re daft. Do some research. I drink over 100oz of water a day.
I was a critic at first, but I did my research and all the results from the IF groups I’m in, and my personal results speak for themselves.
Also, I’ve had much more energy, I’m way less sluggish than I had been. My moods are much better. There’s plenty of benefits of IF aside from weight loss.

My window changes daily! As long as you have an 8 hour window, you could do it from 1:30pm - 930 pm if you have to. And then if you are able to eat at 730 the next day, then close your window after you’re done and then start eating again 16hrs later which would put you at an 11:30 - 7:30 window that day. If you have to keep it open later that day, then just keep your fast going longer.
There’s an app called 0 that you can set your goal and depending on what time you start your fast it will calculate for you the goal is just to have 16 hours in a row that you aren’t eating. I recently changed mine to 18 hours.

No, exactly, it's science. You lost water weight. I was the same way, I lost only every 3 weeks... I was still burning fat during those 3 weeks, but the fat cells were filling with water, until I pretty much peed them all out, and lost 5 lbs in a week.

Of course it’s about the calories. You still need to be in a deficit. HOWEVER, timing has a lot to do with it. If you eat every however often your body is always digesting and doesn’t get a break. If you go more than 12hrs without eating (for most people) your body needs to burn something and so they use the fat that you already have. Also, your insulin is lower so your body is in optimal fat burning mode. It’s around the same idea as keto, although I don’t agree with keto but it works for some people. 🤷♀️
And like I’ve said there’s many more benefits aside from weight loss. I’m eating the exact same way I did for months, and didn’t see a change until I started IF.
I have two kids and don’t have time to link you to many things, but just open your mind and take a look. I’m not saying you can eat whatever you want lol.
