I need a swift kick in the butt

So, on Friday I weighed in at 217.8, I was happy about the progress. Not so happy about the fact that I’m losing weight because of some unknown medical issue that doesn’t let me eat/digest fat. Friday morning my doctor ordered a 72 hour quantitative fecal fat test (last time it was qualitative, 1 sample). So this meant I had to start eating 100-150g of fat a day Friday-Wednesday...6 days. So after 1 day, I stepped on the scale to a 2 lb gain, and then this morning another 3 lb gain. This is normal, and to be expected, right? I’m now at 223.4...this has set me back about 2 weeks in progress...in 2 days?? I so just wanna go back to fat free yogurt and high fiber oatmeal. And stop drinking Sprit to settle my stomach from all of this fat!

Isn't your issue that you're not digesting fat properly? So you're not gaining weight from eating more fat than normal? You just have to follow your doctor's instructions.5

You’re correct. I’m hoping the gain is just bloat.1

And my period just ended like 5 days ago, so it’s not that. I don’t think it’s possible to gain 5 actual pounds in 2 days eating under 2k calories.0

Maybe stay off the scale until after you start eating your normal diet again for a week or so?

You're on a doctor-ordered special diet right now that is necessary for medical testing for the sake of your long-term health. If the fluctuations associated with it are bothering you, I recommend staying off the scale.5

1. It seems you should focus right now on health, not weight.
2. The process of weight loss and management lasts a lifetime. Two weeks is [usually] just a drop in the life bucket.
3. When in doubt, see #1 above.3 -

No it's not. But, a change in diet can trigger water retention. My personal 1 day water retention gain is 14lbs (I hit the ultimate trifecta - TOM, salty food, beer at dinner, changed my workout routine 2 days prior, and didn't sleep well for a few days before....all at once!!!) It did go away within a week.2
