NSV - Modelling?!!?

I was sitting outside my university today and a man approached me to compliment me not only on my style, but my size!! He said he was recruiting girls for modelling and said I was the right size and he'd really love to have me so we exchanged contact information.

I actually have little desire to follow any kind of modelling career (so stressful!!) but I never DREAMED I would ever have people approaching me and offering me jobs in that line of work. Also, I don't trust local modelling agencies very much haha. =) Very sketchy!
Still, doesn't detract from how flattered I was by the whole experience. <3

And to think that pictures of models had been my biggest inspiration for weight-loss. =D I truly believe now that if you imagine yourself in the future achieving your goals and keep a positive attitude, then you have the power to transform those imaginings into reality! Keep up the great work everyone~

  • I hate to be the voice of reason, here, but if you don't trust local agencies (wise) why on earth trust a random man?

  • If he's not with an agency I'd take someone with you when you see him next.

    Flattering, yes!
Be careful though, it is common for "model recruiters" to find girls that aspire to model and it is for raunchy underwear and porn type stuff. My neighbor was an underwear print model and it can get pretty sketchy

Honestly -- did this guy have a business card? Website? Is his name on the website? His photo? Are they reviews? Linkedin.com page? Online resume/portfolio?

If he's legit, he should have all these things.

Yeah, there isn't a lot of demand for models who are 5'4". I'd be hesitant.

You are beautiful and look like a model and it is a true complement. AND that guy sounds lile creep, a true sex offender kidnapper power rapist. This is not how models are recruited but how victims are. Be careful about your contact info with strangers. Even if they have a great, complimentary story.

Sorry to preach. You are beautiful and deserve to be proud. (And safe)
  • I know he's just local and he runs a clothing store, it's not big but I still thought it was pretty fun to talk to someone about anything like that. I don't plan on talking to him again. =)

To be safe, and if you're really interested in whether or not you have what it takes to be a model, perhaps you could audition at an agency nearby? Frankly, I wouldn't trust this fellow.

100% agree with the above. I've had a bit of experience modeling/test shooting and its not very easy or open for females under 5'10" :o(

HOWEVER...... Congrats on the huge compliment! You look very pretty in your profile pic! Just be careful if you do contact him again/pursue anything. There's lots of creepers and wanna-be photogs out there.

But it would make me feel good too(: because you're looking good babe! Keep up the good work(:
