Bariatric surgery?

Hey I just wondered if anyone here has done or is going to do bariatric surgery? I have a significant amount of weight to lose and I have decided to do the surgery as a tool to help me with this. My surgery date is October 15. Just looking for others who might be in the same situation, and looking for support. I know the surgery is a tool only, and that I still will have to work on the good habits to maintain loss. Thanks everyone!

Surgery is an amazing tool if you use it properly. There are some groups on here you can join

I had a gastric sleeve in July, I'm down 68 lbs. so far!
There's a lot of positive effects from the surgery, diabetes can get better, sleep apnea can go away, risk for other health issues goes down, etc. Surgery is definitely not for everyone though. Some people have severe medical issues that mean that they can't do it, some are too old and surgery is a big risk, but the biggest group have problems with the surgery and diet. Different surgeries have different diets, and after surgery, that diet is what you're on for the rest of your life. It's a big commitment that some people can't make. (I'm not even going to dignify the "my body is pure, surgery is never necessary" or the "surgery is the easy way out" types, they're just stupid.)

I had the surgery in June. I am down about 50 lbs and feel so much better. I still feel fat and probably will until I am closer to goal. You still have to work but it does make things easier. It is definitely a tool not a solution to obesity.
