Hey Super Groovers!
Isn't this a fantastic environment to help and support each other. I'm passionate about health and nutrition. I'm studying nutritional medicine. I used to be very fit when I was in the Army and my goal is to regain that level of fitness combined with a healthy lifestyle. I love to share experiences with others to empower them to achieve their goals. My aim is to have my own nutritional practice to help others achieve their health goals. Love to hear from you. Bless ya. Paul.

hey paul great idea, i feel the same way, i was diagnosed morbid obese two years ago and the doctor told me i was going to die in my sleep. They wanted to get me a CPAP machine and in a very insulting way the doctor called me a fat ba**** without saying it. So i made up my mind to show him and everyone that was saying i was over weight behind my back but didnt love me enough to say something directly to me .. i started working out i did some fasting and praying and a year later i lost 100 pounds as a result i have a love for those that are taking their life back via health and actually train in the gym for free all they have to do is come ... i think what you are aspiring to do is great and pray that your beyond successful with it... i often tel those that are "new" to the gym and they have that fear and misunderstanding about it how it started for me .. most people see the results and never get to see the process and the process is what inspires ... good luck to you

It is great here! My goal is to for once be "skinny" my family has many health issues, that are associated with being over weight, I have hit the point of refusing to let the same happen to me. I'm all to familiar with being honked at when I am by the road, or cat calls, I hate them. If I am going to have a man check me out, I would like him to be respectful towards me.

My why is simply my health. My mom's dad had several heart attacks and one that finally killed him. Her uncle, grandfather and brother died of cancer. My dad's parents both had 4 different types of cancer, 3 of which that killed them, my dad's uncle & aunt both currently have cancer, and both my parents have been morbidly obese my whole life. I refuse to follow in this pattern of barely living and dying young.

Also, I'd like to be a healthy weight before I get pregnant and I'd like to be a good, active example for my children to break the cycle of my family's medical history and ways of life.
  • My Why is my health! I don't want to repeat familial patterns. My mother has hypertension, diabetes, end stage renal disease and is currently on dialysis! My grandmother and several of her sisters had heart disease all of them died of heart failure/heart attacks, one even had to have a heart transplant! I have a problem when it comes to food and I desperatley would like to make positive permanent changes to live my best life! I want to be healthy and strong so I can take of my parents (if needed) someday, raise a family or do whatever God calls me to do! Also my why is so that I can shop at ALL stores and not be limited! I am a fashionista honey!

My why is simply that I am taking care of me for a change. I have always been taking care of someone else and trying to fix their problems...but now I am learning to be selfish and put me 1st! I will be 30 on Wednesday and I want my 30's to be better than my 20's and I am going to make that happen!

LIving healthy because life is too short to not be happy... and many of the things I enjoy doing require that I be fit. Taking care of me so I can then help others.

    Conditions I am/was in:
Not being able to do the activities I want to because I am too fat and out of shape sucks.
High Blood pressure and medicine stinks.
CPAP for sleep apnea just so I can get a decent nights sleep.

Where the doctor told me I was going:
Well on my way to Type 2 diabetes.
    Heart disease.
    Pulmonary disorders.
    Worse.

    Now:
Far from my goal, but much more active and feel better. Look better. Blood sugar is where it should be. Of blood pressure medicine.
Still on the CPAP though and still have activities I can't yet do, but getting there.

I am a large man, 360 pounds. I don't have heart disease, diabetes or high blood pressure or cholesterol yet... I am trying to get things taken care of before it gets to that point. I love life and want to enjoy it to it's fullest which I am not currently able to do.

Since I started my journey about 3 weeks ago I've lost a little over 20 pounds. The Dr. has put me on a couple pills to help speed up my weight loss. I've tried to diet before and would lose a bit and fall off the wagon. I can honestly say this time is different. I have some burning desire in me to be done with this shell I have. I have been hitting the gym hard, watching what I eat. I've gave up fast food and soda. The sky is the limit. This time I'm not losing weight so my wife will think I'm hot, or because I'm tired of what people think. This time I'm losing weight for me, and that seems to make the biggest difference.

My why is...I am a 46 yr old Grammie of 6 kids. I want to run with them and roll down hills. I want to hike to all kinds of beautiful places our God has created for us. I want to walk without being out of breath. I want to feel good in my body. I want to live a long long time. I want to meet the great grandchildren one day and maybe great great grandchildren!
