canned vegetables

I know that canned vegetables aren't desirable but sometimes it's easier. I do rinse my vegetables that come out of a can. Does anyone know how much I've reduced the sodium content w/ rinsing?

There's no way to know.
What I do is buy steam-in-bag frozen veggies to microwave. They are faster, fresher, no added salt, and there's no pot to wash.7 -
Some references say sodium is reduced about 40% when canned vegetables are rinsed.2

If limitation on sodium is so severe that you'll have to rinse canned vegetables, I think I'd just go for fresh and frozen. The only canned vegetables I use, is tomatoes or beans - I always rinse the beans, but not the tomatoes Come to think of it, baked beans is tomatoes AND beans, and now I want baked beans!1

There's nothing wrong with canned vegetables, especially if you're low on fridge/freezer space. Buy the ones in water with no salt added and you won't have to rinse them.3
