You're new, so you need to know that most members have had bad experiences with the product, mostly because it costs more than things you can make yourself. They feel it is way overpriced for what you get and will tell you so. Also, people try to sell it on here which is not allowed. Most of these threads are negative. Welcome to MFP, and hope you reach your goals.31

Herbalife does not have a good reputation outside of those who are trying to sell it.
It is an overpriced poor quality supplement.28 -
Used to sell it, it’s just one big gimmick. And I don’t dsay that based of “results” if you work out and supplement two meals and eat clean you going to lose weight, Herbalife or not. But it’s a gimmick for what they tell us in meetings.21

Thank you for confirming the Herbalife scam, and glad you saw the light.
"Eating clean" (whatever that means to anyone personally), however, is not a prerequisite. Weight loss is solely driven by eating less calories per day than your body burns, regardless of where the calories you consumed came from.
Having said that, proper nutrition is important, too. For example, I could eat a 'clean' diet of organic fruits and vegetables, lose weight and yet be nutritionally malnourished. On the other hand, I could eat a diet based solely on 'unclean' or processed 'junk' foods, lose weight (provided I'm in a calorie deficit), and still hit the necessary macros needed for proper nutrition.
The trick is in finding the balance between the two that works best for you.

I'm always suspicious when it's a first time poster, just joined today, asking "who's using Herbal Life"? Is it just me? Then they never come back. This happens a lot.20

Stay away from all Multi-Level Marketing scams.24

Never give your money to an MLM. If you have friends and family involved, it's hard, but say no. They need help out of the cult, not further in. Friends don't let friends have their entire life savings sucked off by predatory companies!
Arranging your own program based on individual needs (maybe even with a doctor helping) is always better than prepackaged. If you're not interested in a whole supplement program, a basic multivitamin and eating enough to hit your goals daily should be fine for the average person.14 -
I didn't know they were still in business.4

Businesses like that are like cockroaches. Nearly impossible to kill unless your superhuman fast (or have a big old can of bug spray on hand )12 -

No need to be suspicious... I'm not tryna sell u herbalife.. just merely asked about the product.. appreciate ur opinion on the product tho but that's all i asked for8 -
Unfortunately a friend of ours got involved with them - bad decision! His experiences "from the next level up" are harrowing and in the regional meetings "health benefits" are never discussed - only selling techniques, point systems, how much money which person in their pyramid system made, how to make "verbal only" promises to potential suckers and how to (mis) treat those who dare to ask uncomfortable questions. There is also the cost to be "allowed" to join their system - always pay in upfront and hope like hell that you can make the money back somehow. If you don't succeed, the tell you straight that it is your fault, that you are incapable, a real shaming mentality as a way of "managing" the millions of bottom feeders who hope to climb the ladder one day...8

I've known many people who've lost tons of weight with Herbalife. Mostly in the back pocket.20

Agree with Candyspun. They always have the story that "lots of people have lost a lot of weight". But when I ask them to give me some names and their telephone numbers, the can't find anyone "in my area". I live in a city with over 5 million people - REALLY?????10

Op please stay far away from mlm products.
I used to have IG and was so excited to share my transformation with others that were interested in fitness. I accepted requests from strangers based upon their profiles ( I know. I know. I was niave !) Anyway to make a long story short- these mlm peddlers were taking my images and then using them on their pages to peddle their products. They were saying stuff like " this person lost 30 lbs of fat and gained 10 pounds of muscle by using my xxx product!"
(I never used any of their products)
They stole my images to use as a marketing ploy . I hated seeing my pictures being used to take advantage of people who were ignorant still. I deleted my IG but still see my images pop up on other platforms from time to time.( I'm nothing overly special either so imagine what they do to people who really are exceptional looking!)
If the products really worked then why do they need to lie and deceive in order to make sales ? The answer is that the products are junk and overly priced. It's a scam. Stay far away from any mlm peddlers and don't rely on their products for results.19 -
Penn & Teller had a show on Showtime called Bull$#!+ (not the censored version, the real word) They did an excellent breakdown of MLM and how it can never work.
The OP is asking about the product, not the MLM process. However with many MLM the product doesn't matter it is trying to sell the idea of making lots of money by selling the idea of making lots of money.
@mush358 There is no miracle juice or food that will get you to lose weight.8 -

I get that the op was inquiring about the product and not the business model but I honestly feel like it's still relative .
Like you said above, mlm is more about making money rather than making a quality product.7 -

Yep. You buy from a distributor whose primary goal is to sign you up as a distributor. There is a cascade affect - get a shake sale, friend them on FB, sign them up to a free challenge, upsell them supplements, flip them into a distributor in your downline. The products are *kitten* because all the time, money, and effort of the company goes into the MLM part, not the products.
OP, there are lots of great testimonials because anything that gets you eating less calories will cause weight loss, and because so many people who drink the stuff also sell it, so they are doing everything else right in order to have a good testimonial. If you search for "herbalife" you will find many threads here and none of them good. You can buy a much less expensive protein powder and multivitamin at Walmart and get the exact same results, because it's how many calories you eat that will make the magic happen

I once joined a weight loss challenge sponsored by herbalife at a local gym a co-worker invited me to attend classes at because the classes were *Free*. At the end of the challenge they had a conference that I can only describe as a cult meeting at a hotel conference room. Granted not once did I feel pressured to "join" their "family" but a lot of them believed, BELIEVED, the only way to get healthy and loss weight was with herbalife products. I didn't challenge their misguided statements, I came in 3rd place, won 100 bucks and a cool herbalife swag bag. I quickly left after that and didn't return to the "free" classes after.11
